Played guitar for about 9 and a half years now, and I've been playing keyboard on and off for about three and a half. Never really bothered trying very hard with the latter so I still suck. Self-taught on both accounts.

In addition to drums, I also play synthesizer, although not with the intention of actually practicing or playing in a band or anything. I just sit down, mess around with the thing, and create new sounds - sometimes for hours. Check out this baby:

My dad bought it off a guy for 50 bucks ages ago. These synthesizers sell for thousands now.

Keyboards suck?

Rick Wakeman's comin for you....and he's drunk as hell.

I want to play Triangle in an orchestra

- count out 185 bars of rests
- go "ding"
- get paid

I would do just about anything to get one of these:

It's a hang. It has to be one of the coolest instruments I've ever seen in my life, but they're apparently super difficult to get.

I played guitar in a couple of bands when I was in school. Then my left wrist got crushed in an accident and I couldn't grip the neck more than 15 minutes for over ten years. About three years ago a friend showed me a guitar that was incredibly easy to fret. It took a while to get back in shape, but I now play a dozen songs at my book signings. It feels great to be back in action.

That's a great story buddy.

Glad to hear you're back at it...I'd like to ask you if you've ever tried or looked at The Chapman Stick.

It might be right up your alley....if you haven't look it up on youtube.

Very comfortable playing position, easy on the wrists.

Cheers!

Great tip on The Stick, Introvox. I never saw anything like it. I must admit, the "old dog, new trick" adage did pop into my mind while I was checking it out. But, I believe musicians are risk takers by nature, and I'm no exception. A trip to my favorite music store will be happening soon.
