I haven't used it, only the Big Muff, but I would think the reviewer(s) was just an anal retentive bastard. Everything that Electro Harmonix makes is rugged and totally KICKASS sounding!!!!! That's why I said in my Gearhead's Daydream thread that I'd like to have everything they produce laid out in front of me. Its all beefy majorly wicked sounding sh*t.
2nd of all, A few years ago I was all gung ho about getting a Tube Screamer, because I'd heard so much about its reputation, so I went out and bought one of the SoundTank versions that Ibanez puts out: Worst sounding peice of crap I've ever played though. Bottom line if you want overdrive, then crank up your amp, that's true overdrive. The big muff will give you pleasureable high gain distortion that you can control to varying degrees to get what your really looking for from an overdrive pedal, but will never get because overdrive pedals suck.
