Nah man, get the Big Muff. Only the original and the carbon-copy reissue of the original tube screamer ($$$$) are worth their weight. The Big Muff is Cheap and its CREAMY *makes Homer Simpson drooling noises* The Double Muff is double the pleasure.

pastor of muppets 05-31-2005 01:00 AM

lol is the double muff good stuff man cos i heard some crap reviews saying it made heaps o noise and sh!t like that

I haven't used it, only the Big Muff, but I would think the reviewer(s) was just an anal retentive bastard. Everything that Electro Harmonix makes is rugged and totally KICKASS sounding!!!!! That's why I said in my Gearhead's Daydream thread that I'd like to have everything they produce laid out in front of me. Its all beefy majorly wicked sounding sh*t.
2nd of all, A few years ago I was all gung ho about getting a Tube Screamer, because I'd heard so much about its reputation, so I went out and bought one of the SoundTank versions that Ibanez puts out: Worst sounding peice of crap I've ever played though. Bottom line if you want overdrive, then crank up your amp, that's true overdrive. The big muff will give you pleasureable high gain distortion that you can control to varying degrees to get what your really looking for from an overdrive pedal, but will never get because overdrive pedals suck.

pastor of muppets 05-31-2005 02:09 AM

lol yeh im just gonna go out and buy a fender tube amp i think

phoenixflames 05-31-2005 06:38 AM

Back when I played guitar in the band, I had one of the Zoom 505 Mark I multi-effects pedal. I really liked it. It was a fairly cheap item, but it had alot of effects, sounded great, and was a totally awesome value. I don't believe they make the Mark I any more, and I haven't tried the Mark II yet, so I don't know if its as good or not.

exactly how many bands are you in?

pastor of muppets 06-01-2005 04:27 AM

too many...... man any of you guys recommend a good phase shifter... or best one youve tried???

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-01-2005 11:59 AM

boss seems to make good pedals. i like their phaser. digitech also makes a good one.

SATCHMO 06-01-2005 01:54 PM

TThe thing about Phase shifters is they tend to be noisy, especially analog phasers. You can usually tell a crappy one because you can hear the phase cycle through your amp even when your not playing. Because of this I reccomend Digitech's hyperphase pedal It has a variety of cool envelopes (shapes of the phase cycle) and its very quiet.

phoenixflames 06-02-2005 07:09 AM

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good multi-effects pedal for under $150. The guitarist in our band is thinking about getting one and the only experiance I have is with Zoom, so I figured I would branch out a little bit in the search for one.

pastor of muppets 06-02-2005 07:36 AM

the digitech rp series are worth a look i reckon.... i havent tried them but they look like good stuff...

Trauma 06-02-2005 03:09 PM

^
They are good lol.
My friend Nick has one.
I used it on bass and at maximum distortion it sounded like an airplane!!
I liked it so much...makes me wanna burn this mother down, or steal it.. :P
I think it has like 40 effects and you can mess with the sound of your guitar better because it's so easy to use.

phoenixflames 06-02-2005 07:45 PM

Do you know which model number it is? RP what? Because I know they have like a bunch of different ones. I don't wanna get one thats to crappy, but don't want to spend too much either. I don't think the expression pedal is really required either.

pastor of muppets 06-02-2005 08:07 PM

if you dont want the exp pedal then the rp 50 is the one but i would recommend the rp 80 even though its got the exp pedal cos its just better... up to you...

phoenixflames 06-02-2005 08:22 PM

Well, if the RP80 is gonna be better in the long run, I will probably go with that. He might use the epxression pedal, I donno. Just figured I might be able to save some money.

pastor of muppets 06-02-2005 08:28 PM

yeh man the 80 is worth it.... just that mcuh better i think youll be better with that

phoenixflames 06-02-2005 08:42 PM

What about the RP200A?

Trauma 06-02-2005 10:24 PM

Tell me which one is cheapest Pastor so I can buy it and mess around with it over summer. I've been too cheap to buy a pedal because I don't need it for anything.

SATCHMO 06-02-2005 11:27 PM

Have you guys thought about Korg's Pandora or their nifty little Toneworks thingies they just put out?

thats pretty good as well but its a lot more expensive than the 80 if i remember correctly....? but yeh i dont think the extra features are worth the extra money... and the 80 does a fine job too....

as for snickers... the cheapest one is the RP - 50 and you can check it out here.... http://www.digitech.com/products/rp50.htm

SaTaNsChIlD666 06-03-2005 07:27 AM

Own: metal master, digital delay, multichorus, and noise supressor

but i really want to find a good phaser.......but i cant seem to find any good ones

pastor of muppets 06-04-2005 09:15 PM

man ive been looking round and i agree with satch.. the digitech hyper phase is the one

eviljoker7075 06-06-2005 01:27 PM

Sorry about this but I use a Zoom 505II - do I get kicked off for that?

pastor of muppets 06-07-2005 05:22 AM

mmmmm... i dunno, we'll have to get back to you on that...

eviljoker7075 06-07-2005 08:56 AM

lol, I only use that because I blew all my money on guitars and cannot afford to build the collection of pedals that I'd like to have :(

Emo Ophey 06-07-2005 08:59 AM

Using money on guitars is probably a somewhat better investment.

Pedals: ZOOM 707II, and Boss DS-1 Distortion. Kind of wish I got the Boss Overdrive/Distortion, but hey. ZOOM one kicks arse, like whoah.

eviljoker7075 06-07-2005 09:03 AM

I quite like the multi-ness of my Zoom, it's all configurable anyway! And hey if the effects sound crap then at least I still got me a £70 tuner :D

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-07-2005 12:14 PM

i dont like multi's. at least for me, i can never get the right sound out of them. that plus you cant just turn off one effect at a time. im stickin to the stompboxes.

phoenixflames 06-07-2005 12:17 PM

I've always liked multi-effect pedals. I think they are a really good value. Plus, if you want to turn on like 4 effects at once, you don't have to do a Russian Jig. I can see where they both have pro's and con's, and I think they both have good purposes. Just depends on what you need them to do.

eviljoker7075 06-07-2005 12:19 PM

yeah you can... each effect is made up of various effects which can eb turned off individually

Fenixpunk 06-07-2005 12:19 PM

Yamaha Distortion and the Boss Turbo Distortion are good basic distortion pedals, I dont use them too much though, i get a good sound out of my amp without them. I do use my old Bruno Wah/Fuzz pedal everynow and then though.
