Fave Guitar Brand?

What are your favourite guitar brands and why?

I think I'd have to say Gibson simply 'cos I love the classic Les Paul tone.

Fenixpunk 07-12-2005 09:47 AM

les pauls sound good, but ugh, i hate the balance/weight. Ibanez has such a good feel to them and are one of my favorites to play though im a sucker for my PRS and wouldnt give it up for any other guitar ive seen or played. Im looking for an old flying V to restore though, hopefully will find one soon.

pastor of muppets 07-12-2005 09:48 AM

Yeah.... i love my PRS too, very light, im thinkin of gettin a flying v next, either that or a les paul.....

SATCHMO 07-12-2005 01:20 PM

I love Fender Telecasters. They're such hearty guitars and have that icey bite to em' that they're famous for. I also like Carvin a lot. You don't hear about em' a lot because you can only get them direct from the company, but the quality and craftsmanship are superb. Their California carved top model puts a PRS to shame (sorry guys).

Fenixpunk 07-12-2005 01:36 PM

i havent seen a carvin in years, highly doubt they are better quality as some of the PRS's. The Carvin CT models are nice to look at, but they almost look as if someone came up with the clever idea of combining the style of a Jackson with the look of a PRS.

SATCHMO 07-12-2005 01:56 PM

Most Carvin's seem as though they're based on other guitar models, but the Carvin models tend to surpass them in quality. I have a friend who bought a CT to replace his Jackson and says he's never been happier with an instrument. I should take bank the PRS statement though, cuz its really not based on my own personal experience.

Fenixpunk 07-12-2005 01:59 PM

i think its pretty safe to say that the carvins are better quality than a jackson. Jacksons just dont have no style. they got lots of balls though, especially if your playing heavy, but rather bland on the design side. but ill have to pick up a carvin and play around with it next time im at the good ol guitar shop.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 07-12-2005 02:03 PM

mine would either be ESP, because the ones that i have played are amazing. very sleek necks and great sustain. OR schecter, because of the versatility in the sound they produce

SATCHMO 07-12-2005 02:04 PM

Problem is that unless its a used Carvin you won't find one in a guitar shop. Check out www.carvin.com . While you're there check out the red eye R 1010 bass combo. I don't even play bass and I want this amp!

Fenixpunk 07-12-2005 02:12 PM

the guitar shop i normally go to is a place called Bizaar Guitar, they have alot of used/customized gear. Im pretty sure ive seen a couple Carvins in there before but not certain if they are still there or not. its been about a month since ive been in there and i just ran in and grabbed a couple sets of strings and didnt really pay attention to anything else.

pastor of muppets 07-12-2005 08:49 PM

cool..... any examples of guitars youve modded?

anticipation 07-13-2005 04:47 PM

i said other, because the only ones that i kinda like on that list are gibson and fender, but my fav guitar brands would have to be Gretsch, Danelectro, and Kay

SaTaNsChIlD666 07-14-2005 05:02 PM

id have to go with washburn and Jackson...i got 2 washburns and a jackson and none have disappointed me

SATCHMO 07-14-2005 05:23 PM

I like Washburn's a lot, but I'm not a big fan of Jacksons

pastor of muppets 07-15-2005 01:07 AM

oh man i love the Washburn Idol 66PRO..... bound carved quilt maple top on mahogany body with seymour duncan 59 reish neck pickup and custom custom in bridge AND grovers AND gold hardware.....

*multiple orgasms*

im thinkin of gettin my ma ta get it next time she goes to tha US.....

SaTaNsChIlD666 07-17-2005 02:08 PM

yeah i got the Face Eraser and the WG-587 (seven string)..buti am looking for an airbrusher to put my tatt onto the guiatr

nod 07-22-2005 09:02 PM

Hey "muppet man" maybe if you took a Ibnez original ARTIST and put a 57 gibson humbucker at the neck and a fender double fat hummer at the bridge we would all do what I did and play all night long. Your poll was a great idea!

Lewiscode 07-23-2005 09:15 PM

Gibson because they make a beautiful Archtop Hollow-Body.

marshmallowmonkey 08-12-2005 04:39 PM

i love my old fender.it has no faults. i love it.

however,i admire a nice gibson

SATCHMO 08-12-2005 04:40 PM

Josephine 08-12-2005 04:44 PM

SATCHMO 08-12-2005 10:49 PM

Its just the Les Paul that's overrated. All their other guitars are just overpriced.

sunburst.. Double fat.. Floyd rose trem... *drool*

jackson are pretty good too!

boris jawaka 08-31-2005 08:20 PM

Ibanez all the way.

the sound people like John Schofield get out of ibanezs is just amazing. there is much less difference in sound in other guitars than there is with the Ibanez

Undead Lord 09-02-2005 06:53 PM

I like Michal Kelly guitars. I teyed one out at a guitar syore, it sounded great was really light, had a great red painted flame maple top. And had some awsome custom flame inlay, and had some nice humbucker pickups that sounded really good and was 400$ (because it was made in korea). SO then i went on harmony central and read some reviews. Now i just need to get myself to hand over 400$ for it. Okay 399$.

Live To Die 09-04-2005 11:28 PM

From what i have tryed out in stores i like ibanez and shecter guitars. I haven't tryed anything to expensive though. I have never even touched a gibsn because the store owner doesn't trust me with one because he says i'm to young (and i haven't damaged any guitars i have tryed out). Come on i'm 17 for gods sake he should trust me.

SATCHMO 09-05-2005 02:07 AM

Damn, Why does everyone have such a hard on over Ibanez guitars?

pastor of muppets 09-05-2005 06:27 AM

cos they h to the k hardxkore!!1!!11

Kurt_Cobain 09-05-2005 03:23 PM

Gibson have a great sound although they're damn heavy for such a small body. Fenders are ok too, but I hate the fingerboards for some reason.

SATCHMO 09-05-2005 03:23 PM

Uh, .....yeah. Well I'm glad to see you anyways Pastor!!!!!
