Default Need help regarding drums and strings.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any input on the idea of putting piano/guitar strings into a drum, and whether or not the vibrations of a drum strike would sound the strings. Would the drum need to have a large amount of sustain for this to work? Has anyone tried something like it before?

The amount of weight on the drum shell to get the string in tune would be too great and deform the shell but in theory, it could work but would be very quiet. Wouldn't be anywhere near the same volume as striking the string with finger/mallet/plectrum.
