Can a LES PAUL do metal?

Hello everybody, I'm playing a Fender style guitar for the last 11 years. I was thinking to buy a guitar that could play harder with humbuckers and all, and then I found this Epiphone LES PAUL SPECIAL one. Now, I know this is a cheap guitar, but i'm not asking about its quality,
I'm asking if it's strong enough to play metal riffs..?

If you can amplify and distort it, it can do metal.

Yes you can in fact play riffs on a les Paul

Sure you can. **** you can do metal on a tele and it sounds sick with the right rig
