Extreme metal is an umbrella genre covering death metal, black metal, and to a certain degree, thrash metal and doom metal.

Really don't like thrash and doom to be labeled as extreme metal. *runs*

Also, Briks shouldn't you be at school right now?

Had some time to check MB before school. I don't really have a life.

And I think some thrash and doom metal bands can be labelled as extreme metal. Obviously not Metallica, Megadeth, Candlemass etc., but come on, bands like Slayer and Kreator are pretty extreme (not to mention that bands like Bathory and Mayhem's early work was essentially thrash metal tainted by a bit of Satan). Also, this is pretty extreme:

This is misleading. Early death metal bands like Morbid Angel and Suffocation are so unmelodic they earned their own genre. These two are also among the most famous.

Death metal is a type of extreme metal. So is black metal and the more extreme thrash/doom bands.

I don't know how you can listen to it. Most of it isn't actual music. Just thrashing about on guitars and screaming a lot. A lot of young'ns are into it though nowadays like.

Think I'll stick to Marilyn Manson

Well, I'd imagine you'd still describe them as their genre but if they want to shake it up, let them haha.
