Anyone here know anything about digital pianos? (Where's Rez when you need him?)

My digital piano (aka my $640 pride and joy) has inexplicably stopped working, and I've exhausted all the factory-recommended techniques. Help?

It turns on, and the built-in metronome works. The problem is that none of the keys produce any sound, or do anything to control keyboard functions (e.g. adjusting metronome tempo).

Look inside and see if there is anything physically disconnected or out of place. That's about all can offer tbh.

What model is it? My DX7s stopped making noise when the internal battery died. Now when I switch it on I have to initialise everything from the ROM cartridge before it works again. The funniest part was when the battery was on it's way out everything was getting glitchy and I got some really crazy random sound patches. Wish I could reproduce some of them.

Have you considered getting a real piano? There are tons of cheap second hand ones that just need a bit of tuning. If you're playing actual piano repertoire an electric piano is very unsatisfying after playing the real thing. If you're using it hooked up to a computer to trigger synths and samples then obviously that's a different story.

I have one already.

I agree that there's absolutely no comparison. You can't play Debussy or Rachmaninoff on a digital piano. But an upright is a little tricky to cart around.
