While I was Away.

Had been missing my LP ever since I stupidly sold it during what I'm now reffering to as 'Black18'. All's well again!

nice looking guitar and welcome back

Neapolitan 04-23-2019 02:52 PM

Sorry to hear you had a ****ty year. I hate hear about people loosing equipment. I was at a family reunion a couple of weeks ago, and I was talking to cousin who use to play at weddings. He told how he owned an original Black Beauty Les Paul, and it got stolen with the rest of the bands equipment. Those kind of stories just unsettles me. Well at bare minimum at least you had good memories of it.

P.S. The guitar looks like either a Honey Burst, or a Tobacco Burst, or Desert Burst, maybe a Dirty Lemon? I am confused to why you call it a Black 18.

The Batlord 04-23-2019 02:56 PM

Black 18 isn't the guitar it's the young coloured pussy that got him through losing it.

Neapolitan 04-23-2019 02:58 PM

The story you tell of Black 18 reminds me of Black 47.

Close. Green Lemon Fade.

Black18 refers to the year.

I got three. What do I win?

What? Never heard of Green Lemon Fade. So I had to look it up and that particular finish is/was used on a VOS 60th Anniversary model and they cost 6,499!!? Hey, I was thinking of a getting a Vintage V100. I am not sure I will, but think about it often (a Lemon Burst is pic below). They are only like 6% of the cost of what a Gibson Les Paul 60th Anniversary model. It seems a guitar has two fates, either an instrument you play on or a collectible item.

1918, the year of the Spanish Flu. Yeah, that year was pretty bleak.

Re: Gibson. All signs point to this being a good thing for the company and the consumer. Early feedback has been all really positive.

Thank God! Henry Juszkiewicz running Gibson was a very bad idea from day one and he made it a point to keep reminding everyone with bad move after bad move.

That’s a fine tool for the unfinished business of The Joe Pass Challenge.

And I just downloaded a Polytone Brute profile.....

(what was the challenge again?)

OccultHawk 04-23-2019 09:05 PM

That you can more effectively demonstrate a Joe Pass influence on your playing style than Frowny. Remember, Frown said his guitar playing has been deeply influenced by Joe Pass and I was like n-word puhleeze

Chula Vista 04-23-2019 09:23 PM

On it. My new organized setup will make it easy to document.

Quick little improv over a backing.

Frownland 04-24-2019 11:28 AM

Solid. Lot closer to someone like Holdsworth than Pass with the vibrato, phrasing, and lack of chords, but good effort.

You think he should done the backing track over a himself playing a Jazzy chord progression? ... or play a phrase with chords like Wes Montgomery would?

I meant cord, actually. Not a lot of firewood in the track.

Have to agree. The run at almost exactly 1 minute did seem like it move toward something Joe Pass might play though.

Either way, sounds choice Chules

Frownland 04-25-2019 04:27 PM

He scuttled off after he found Jebus.

The Batlord 04-25-2019 04:35 PM

Oh yeah he is a dip**** now.

Chula Vista 04-25-2019 06:06 PM

When we gonna talk about how I quit drinking cold turkey and haven't been to a single AA meeting, nor do I have one of those sponsor type thingies.

There were quite a bit more auditory hallucinations than visual which was kinda a trip!

The Batlord 04-25-2019 06:20 PM

I think we're gonna wait till Trump gets re-elected before we start counting our chickens.

Right now because you're already a-yammerin. Idk what that has to do with missing your guitar though.

Congrats bro

It’s great that you’re taking care of yourself

I think AA is a path for some people but not everyone

You’re still in early sobriety but **** yeah
