saying that nsync and 98 degrees are "OMG the best bands ever!!" and "OMG sooo punk!" is useless. post something with some kind of substance.

i never said that, you are just drawing that from my name

i started by saying that U2 was the most overrated band ever and i stand by my statement, even though Bono and the Edge are awesomely talented, their new stuff is pitiful

^ i dont think nirvana got overrated because of kurt's death. i would like to say that nirvana's "nevermind" is an overrated rock album, while their first cd "bleach" should not be ignored. ive met lots of nirvana freaks who dont even know whats on bleach. that's what is overrated about nirvana

my world, nsyncispunk and 98degreesispunk are different people, I checked the IP adresses. In some ways I wonder if cobain would be considered the (I hate to use this term) "musical god" that he is if he hadn't killed himself in the prime of nirvana's career. It's almost as if he's been made into a martyr. I do think they're music is amazing, and they no doubt were incredibly influential, but sometimes I think they've been put on a pedestal in a sense because cobain has been given a martyr status.

^ can we say the same for 2pac, brad nowell, biggie, jmorrison, bob marley, sid viscious, etc? can the "martyr status" cloud over the musicians talent? you raise a very good point- good topic to discuss for sure

^ well I'm only using cobain as an example, because he's been brought up numerous times in this thread, but ya, those artists as well seem to have developed the same situation, where they are very talented artists (I'm not denying that), but they've developed a kind of inflated image of themselves in the music industry, perhaps because they died when they were in the prime of their musical careers.

kurt cobains not overrated. but he's become the mold to compare other rock artists to.
and since many dont measure up, people say how great he is. dont get me wrong, im a huge nirvana fan, but they're not the best ever. and anyone who says they are is just a poser.
