It's all about the music, man... in all seriousness, thats the truth! All the imagery, legend and whatever else means very little when compared to the body of work the artist or band leaves behind them... so I too, tend to disregard discussion about the "image" aspect of rock music... because its so damn vacuous and uninteresting to me... and pales into insognificance when you hear an amazing song which blows your head off...

it's not about how much money they have! it is about their music and just because you do not like something does it mean that it sucks! maybe its not your taste but stairway to heaven (although overplayed) needs to be respected even if you don't like it that much. its an amazingly well written, well recorded and performed song.
and this argument only applies to certain things, the legendary and influential stuff of the music world. the beatles, the stones, zeppelin, the who, etc. some of it isn't my taste either, i don't really care for it, BUT i respect it and its overwhelming importance |

Actually I think its a case of them being vastly underrated considering their influence on contemporary music despite constantly being overshadowed by the Beatles, who, IMO are the most overrated band of all time.

I second the Good Charlotte comment;
however, I personally feel like the f***ing Jonas Brothers should be crowned here. Damn Disney bands shouldn't get rep like they do for playing 3 and 4 chord progressions using the same notes in every goddamn song, singing about love at age 15 or whatever. thats a steaming pile of bulls**t. |

The fact that the Rolling Stones have lived on and continued to tour even now when the sound and show is not nearly what is was has hurt their legacy. It's unfair but it is the reality. They've gone on making albums way past their prime and though they mostly produced above average records, the fact that they never lived up to their early prolific era takes away from perception their significance and influence.
