In fact, im probably the only person i know who REALLY listens to classic rock nonstop.
you must not know me. And yes listening to Zep and Floyd and others when your only 19 like me does set you apart. Being cool has absolutely no bearing on what I listen to. On the contrary when It had everything to do with what I listened to, I was listening nonstop to rap and modern music. That is why I say that I took down my musical barriers and realized that music isn't meant to make you cool. What I listen to is what I truly like, and most kids that have their head up their ass listening to the latest rap songs all the time look at me and can't even understand why I listen to what I do. If your 50 years old and you're wearing a zeppelin shirt you got at the 77 swan song tour, you're probly not wearin it to be cool. If your 17 and your wearin the same shirt, yet you don't even have a clue of what swan song is, then your probly wearing it to be cool. Bungalowbill just has to go against anything I say. I agree with you boo boo. Younger people that are discovering these old bands like floyd, zep, the who, etc. and taking a liking to it not becuase it makes them cool, but that they realize it is great music with real honest talent and meaningful lyrics, is really cool. I like music that works my brain, and rap doesnt, it just gives me a headache and makes me feel dumb.

Just because millions have loved Zeppelin and Floyd before you doesn't make you any less original. Just because you weren't born in the 70's when things happened for the first time, doesn't mean you can't still be original.

Thats like saying religion should only be for the ones who first 'discovered' God . So what, we can't believe in him because it's been done before? We have to create a new God for this generation?

I'd far sooner find someone original if they wore a Floyd t-shirt then a Greenday t-shirt or something that is currently 'in'. It shows they've gone against the grain and listened to something that does sound different to what is on offer today, which more often then not, requires a greater amount of will to appreciate then something like Greenday that is force fed to us whether we want to listen to it or not.
^100% agree with that post

actually you are mistaken, as most young people where I live have their heads stuck up their ass listening to either Rap, Modern crap, or both. If they happen to listen to any Classic Rock they listen to the joker by SMB, or maybe a couple AC/DC tracks or def leppard or somethin like that, Nothing to the extent I listen to. If I took a poll of kids how many kids my age have listend to ten years gone by zeppelin, or interstellar overdrive by pink floyd, let alone if they like either one of those songs, the results would be rediculous, like maybe 1% of the population my age...

Everybody has something about their musical tastes that sets them apart from other people.

Hawkwind, Gentle Giant, Van Der Graff Generator...These guys ring any bells?...Probably not.

did you ever consider thats what they like? and that taste in music doesnt make you different, its cliche elitist prick who thinks he's so much more tastful because he listens to old music. maybe you should pull you're head out of zeppelins ass and sotp being so narrow minded. instead of bitching at them about not liking it, how about maybe showing them a record or two if its so important to you that everyone knows how fantastic zeppelin is, and not just running you're mouth, because its getting old.

Maybe you two guys should just shut the hell up and agree to disagree...I agree with Kashmir that classic rock fans get way too much sh*t from people on this forum, and i agree with you that rap and modern rock fans get way too much sh*t from people too, usualy from people like Kashmir.

Lets just all shut up, lighten up, get drunk, get naked, have sex and celebrate the fact that this really sh*tty year is near its end, i mean c'mon, no more being so serious all the time, its the ****ing holidays.
