Dude, RHCP is never mentioned, especially considering how good they are. They have come out with so many great albums and BSSM is on of the greatest 90s albums ever. They're incredibly skilled musicians (awesome live). Most of my fav bands are metal bands, but RHCP still takes the cake for being my fav band ever. And I may listen to Pastorius, Wooten, Claypool and other bass greats, but my favourite bassist is still Flea.

i know a lot of people who listen to my bloody valentine.

and besides, i'm not generally talking about a popularity contest, they are often labelled as the leader of the whole shoegaze/dreampop pack. they get tons of praise.
