Birmingham gave to the world Black Sabbath, the Moody Blues, ELO, Duran Duran, Traffic, Steve Winwood, Joan Armtrading, Ocean Colour Scene, Napalm Death, The Streets, and we were the only city in the Midlands that would allow Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham into our clubs, as he was deemed too loud everywhere else. Birmingham was also where Robert Plant and Bonham got their first breaks in the music business before being introduced to Jimmy Page, and the rest of their story, is indeed, history.
There's also a great underground scene again, with the metal and pop punk stars of the future hopefully playing the pubs and clubs now. My personal favourites are Distophia who play quite a sugary punk-lite sound, and Afterburn, who rock in an AC/DC style. |

Well, lots of people from "around" my town, but actually from Virginia Beach the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Pharrell and Chad from N.E.R.D and The Neptunes
