the first one is 8-bit-game-music-infused indie rock, and the second one is mathy indie rock. Stuff you would find boring, to be sure.

I never liked this compilation. It gets nowhere near Pretzel Logic, Katie Lied or Aja.
I suggest you try and find Pretzel Logic. Which is probably the best album of that year

and the album cover is pretty badass

It grows, too. "Pretty good" is all I thought on first listen. Don't mean to make promises, but I really enjoyed it.
