At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul (1995)

Though not as bad as some of the screaming I've heard from other bands, this is yet another example of perfectly fine metal ruined by the singer opening his bloody mouth.

It's alright. Didn't quite live up to the insane hype that ensued after the surprise release, but I dig it.
How much do you dig it? Scale of one to ten?

Herbie Hancock, Jammin' With Herbie

Eh. It was fine, I suppose. It was just very tasteful "normal" jazz. Not really anything standout here, at least not for me. The most interesting moments were late in the album when they utilized much more hand percussion, many songs on the latter half having a Latin flavor. But really, if you want Latin jazz, there's better places to get it than the Side B of a lackluster Hancock album.

FKA Twigs, LP1

Did it meet the hype? Maybe, maybe not. Was it fantastic? Yes, yes it was. It's a great slice of electronic bounciness that sounds so much like 2014 it hurts, but it's wonderful. I don't know if it's as good as others on this site are making it out to be, but I enjoyed it.

6 or 7 out of 10. Maybe in my Top 40/50 range of the year.

Kath Bloom, Loren Connors - Restless Faithful Desperate & Moonlight

Beautiful folk double album consisting of 33 songs (1 hr 38 minutes.) Really enjoying this.
