I didn't write a review on it as I've been super busy this week. I'll get one done tomorrow or Monday .

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the compliments.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Diesel. There is a loose storyline there. It's based on this short piece I wrote - each paragraph is a song on the EP.

"Mwisho wa misitu".
That's where I’m headed.
The exploration of that great wilderness before it disappears.
I've landed in the forest.
I'm cutting through the brush.
I stumble upon a local, who takes me in.

I drink their poison.
I see what they've seen.
I'm in the darkest existence of nature.
The voice of those who have lived by this forest exhort me further, but i'm apprehensive.
Mnyama and mwanaume are no longer so different.
Wao ni sawa.
Wao ni sawa.
Wao ni sawa. Wao ni kama yangu.
Wao ni sawa. Wao ni kama yangu.

I'm taken to what destroys this way of life.
The machine with giant, devastating wheels.
I've seen it before.
I've worked one before.
A glimpse of the place of waste.

I awake, enlightened.
The Hornsman signals my journey complete.

I share the comforts of my life.
What has advanced us so far.
I take them back to my camp.
They are curious, I am wise.

We've learned much about each other.
I've lived an expedition in the life of them.
They have taught me much.
I will go back home, enlightened.
I was curious, they were wise.

Depart from me as I see fighters go back to brush.
They're bloodthirsty.
They'll kill me by mistake if I return.
They want to protect what they've shared with me.
They are hiding, waiting.
"Mwisho wa misitu". The storm, a forest.

My favourites would be Seventeen Years, Something for X (love the bass in these two) and Hasi mtu anakuwa chanya.

Great work Conan, I was really impressed! Love the experimentalism of it. Keep it up and please continue to show us your music!
Thanks . I did play all the instruments except the purcussion, which I designed in a sequencer or sampled and looped.

Wow nice, good stuff. Following along to that, as I listened again, definitely made the album even cooler than it was before. Really feels almost like a soundtrack to a movie now, with its mysterious parts and then sad ending. Nice to be able to see the scenes all happening in my head.

I loved the album, in its entirety. I even looped it for more than 3 hours.

The presence of a story told through the melody, was obvious, even though the story itself wasn't that evident. However, that is exactly what I liked. I had already read the text you posted in here, but while listening to the album, I forced myself to forget what you wrote, so that everything stays abstract, as it was meant to be. The spirit of the story was felt. I went through the peace, the danger, the search, the wisdom etc... without trying to know why it all happened. I became the protagonist in that story, and I was the one going through all this emotion, for whatever reason I had in mind the moment I was listening to Catalog Assault.
I don't have any favourite songs, as I didn't keep track of which one I was listening to. I just kept the album running, since I wouldn't be able to extract one of the songs to listen to alone. It is a one block album, that shouldn't divided.

I would've preferred though, if the whole album was made of one track, as the titles do lessen of the impact of the melody itself. And maybe just have that track as Part 1, and then have another (~20 minutes long) track to be the sequel, completing the first story.

Anyway, all in all, very good album. Excellent work Sonace.

Default This weeks Music Club pick is...

Comsat Angels - Waiting for a Miracle

The Comsat Angels were a post-punk band from Sheffield, England, active from 1978 to 1995. Their music has been described as "abstract pop songs with spare instrumentation, many of which were bleak and filled with some form of heartache." In their early years, the group shared live stages with bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Depeche Mode, U2 (an 18-date tour in 1981), Captain Beefheart, The Sound, Wall of Voodoo, and Gang of Four.
