They changed 3. Four if you count Jason who looks tanned enough to be another race. I can see making him a Mexican. What annoys me is the political correctness behind it. Taking the black ranger being the black guyt as an insult, they made hin Chinese when the person with the Chinese name is played by a Mexican chick, or at least an American girl with two pure Mexican parents. And they change the smart guy into the black guy because a black guy having average human intelligence is not politically correct. As if skin color had anything to do with IQ. That's what bugs me. They already had a Chinese girl with a clearly Asian family named. I never knew a Mexican who's last name was Lang. That's what annoys me.

And since this is a film adaptations board, I think I can make a common complaint that people have about film adaptations, Power Rangers or not.

You are annoyed for very stupid reasons that are based on your assumptions about the thought process of the casting team. Ranting about political correctness is as obnoxious as whining about any other imaginary demon like the war on christmas or cultural appropriation.

And since this is a discussion forum, I can discuss why I think your opinion is ridiculous. It's a cheap movie adaptation that's bent on appealing to nostalgia and there will probably be a shitload of other reasons why you should complain about it instead of a hyped up victimized rant about political correctness.

But reinventing the nostalgia doesn't give the audience any reason to be nostalgic. If things get changed around, then the original reasons why it's so nostalgic won't be in the movie. It's not a childish nreason or a ridiculous one. It's a common complaint fans or former fans have. And just so you know, political correctness is extremely evident in movies, even to the point where things don't make sense, like how I've mentioned casting a Mexican girl as a Chinese girl multiple times.

Does the scary black man or the Asian girl turn the whole thing upside down for you?

That was racist.

I have nothing against racial diversity. But at least make sense with it. Trini's choice was what set me over the edge, not Zach's or Billy's. What sets me over the edge was that they already had a black guy and a Chinese girl, so there was no reason to switch the races of the other two members, except for one possible reason: political correctness. They don't want the black ranger being black, because that's "racist." So they make the smart guy the black one. Racial diversity is something the Power Rangers writers have always insisted on from the first team. What bugs me is that they change the races for the sake of their political agenda. It's the politics that bug me. Politics wriggles its way into every little thing on the planet, and now it wiggles its way into changing the races in an adaptation. People didn't bitch over Zach being black in the original series, and they shouldn't today. And if there's some other reasoning behind this change, I can't think of one. All I know is I've seen millions of complaints about changing appearances. Heck, people are complaining about the new suits. So why would the actors be any different?

What a dramatic and hyper victimized rant view of the world you have. It must suck to constantly be upset about things that don't matter in the slightest all the time.

So you don't think the media is constantly promoting it? Like I said, I have no problem with it as long as it's logical. You're the one who's not getting it. All you're doing is calling me whiny without a statement. And to be fair, I've seen you complaining about the stupidest little things in music before, but that's what a music forum is abouyt so I forgot all about it. I see people complaining about the little things here all of the time. If you're not a fan or former fan of the show, you don't really get to judge its level of representation as well as a guy who followed them for about 6 years.

Bottom line is your experiences with film are not the same as mine, and you're not going to change my opinion. I'm not the only fan who has complaints about the cast.

Damned liberal media all trying to make us think people is equal or some stupid progressive stuff of that ilk. What happened to the good ole days?

The logic behind it is that they cast different actors. Whoa.

It's funny when people whine about not whining.

Well congratulations, you have company in your over the top sensitivity to the change in the race. Is it going to upset you if they don't drive a 90s model car in the movie?

Boycott the movie by not seeing it and watch those hippy libtards go broke. Personally, I'm not going to see it because it looks like a ****ty movie and a cash grab.
