Default Green Day...great band? or American idiots?

ok, well, I thought I would post this just for some feedback...I recently saw them live here in Canada, and I have to say, that the place was bigger than the fan turn out, and that they are starting to resemble some selling out qualities...however, I think that every song and album were amazing...since they have such a clean sound anyway, even their first recording was real professional like.
1,000 Slappy hours-breakthrough album
kerplunk-quite roughter, featuring an illegal cover of knowlege by operation Ivy, but they did not damage to the song...
Dookie-many popular and well written songs playing with the way ppl are today and perceive punk
Insomniac-a slightly darker album with some more desolate lyrical content
Nimrod-a growing point for them, actually every album was really, since they have been a band 17 years....but almost a looking back sense of regret and growth.Take back a rougher song and a song with strictly music just to sooth the soul...lol!
Minority-a clean, and experemental album with a jewish medley and as on every album something slow and acoustic
American idiot- there seems to be no growth to the music in this one except lyrically of course...AI guess trying to get back to their punk roots, but failed...still, a very good album indeed.

Well, that is what I thought of them so I would like to hear your feedback....

I think there just an averege band. I can't say I like there music and I can't say I don't. The worst type of band is the band that no one has an opinion of lol. I think there gonna be one of these bands that once you own one album you own them all.

Y'know youre only gonna get a load of posts saying 'they sold out' and 'theyre mainstream now so they suck.' But there you go, I guess we get that in every thread, whether it was originally about Green Day or not.
My opinion of them hasnt changed at all. I wasnt exactly a fan before, and Im not now. I dont think any less, any more of them now that they're more popular. I just dont see much originality to be honest.

eh....they're alright. I saw them about 3-4 years ago, they put on a pretty decent live show. They're music is waaaay to overplayed. When I first heard their newest song, I thought it was fine, but I'm starting to seriously dislike it. I wish the radio stations, tv shows, and commercials would at least try to balance some music...not the same song over and over.....

What do I think of Green Day?

I think they`ve done pretty well for a band who`ve spent the last 15 years writing the same song over & over again.

Default I like them!

well, I think they're good and I must admit I like their older albums better in terms of music but American Idiot I thought was amazing especially for their first opera. They may not be punk or whatever but, its not really like they're calling themselves that *cough cough Avril* and I think just because they're doing well doesn't make them not punk. I'm not fighting about genres though. And yeah their songs do sound a bit the same but if you like that one song then you're set and... the songs are pretty catchy. So yep... there I'm done.

Damn straight they have. If the Strokes manage half as long as that, and do it half as well as Greenday then I'll hunt them down and buy them dinner myself.

Actually their first album was *1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, my personal favorite. And, Knowledge was on this CD not Kerplunk.
In terms of progression, they've always been very melodic since the beginning. The little elements of punk they had were brief and disputed, through their entire discography. Of course, you're just gonna say I'm being a smartass so I'll stop. Anyway, I agree with Urbanhatemonger's comment, I laughed so hard, but that is the best and only thing that needs to be said about this band.
