i dont see them as punk, their more pop-rock to me. im not a huge fan but there are a few songs i really really like such as welcome to paradise, waiting, time of your life and hitchin' a ride.

I like them, not overly amazed or touched by the music but they are consistent, they put on a good live show, the live sound is good and their songs have dancability. Preferred Dookie times to the more recent stuff.

yeah i agree. you can't diss them as a band cuz they are talented. and in the words of pop idol and all that **** its all about the 'whole package' and they do give a good performance, but they were better in the early days.

so just because they have talent means you can't diss them?

I guess they are pretty "talented" for a three chord band. But, I don't see the big difference between their earlier work and their most recent work. They have been fairly consistent, constantly putting out melodic sing-a-long songs that could easily be pre-school anthems. Dont get me wrong, I still like to get my groove thang on when I hear songs like "Why Do Want Him" and "Disappearing Boy". But, please explain how they are the "whole package". In terms of originality, they owe a lot to The Clash and The Ramones.

I like them, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that they're one of the more talented musicians out there. There are tons of bands that I personally consider to be better musicians (based on the albums they release), but they've made a decision to keep their music simple and stick to a more melodic style and it's worked for them.
