If you want to build lean muscle mass, meat is the way to go. It's no accident vegetarian body builders are about as common as gay NAZIs.
Hip Hop, what makes you think that the statement "beans are a great source of protein" is "bull**** vegetarian propaganda?"

The Harvard School of Public Health, hardly a source of propaganda, states:
Quote:
"Vegetable sources of protein, such as beans, nuts, and whole grains, are excellent choices, and they offer healthy fiber, vitamins, and minerals."
Beans are low in methionine but rich in lysine, and since most grains are low in lysine and rich in methionine you can easily get all the essential amino acids you need by including beans and grains in your diet over the course of the day.

And a bonus: by eating beans and grains instead of meats you have avoided the cholesterol and saturated fats in animal products, such as bacon and eggs, that can increase health risks.

The American Dietetic Association, the largest organization of nutritionists in the U.S., and unlikely to be source of vegetarian propaganda, describes the healthfulness of vegetarian diets in which meat is not a source of protein:

Quote:
Position of the American Dietetic Association: Vegetarian Diets.
J Am Diet Assoc., 2009; 109: 1266-1282.
Vegetarian Diets

The results of an evidence-based review showed that a vegetarian diet is associated with a lower risk of death from ischemic heart disease. Vegetarians also appear to have lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension and type 2 diabetes than nonvegetarians.

Furthermore, vegetarians tend to have a lower overall body mass index and lower overall cancer rates.
Finally, what makes you believe that eating meat is the best way to build lean muscle mass? This doesn't mesh with what I've read.

For example, the American Dietetic Association states in the same article above that vegetarian diets can meet the needs of competitive athletes: "Vegetarian diets that meet energy needs and contain a variety of plant-based protein foods, such as soy products, other legumes, grains, nuts, and seeds can provide adequate protein without the use of special foods or supplements."

P.S. Your broccoli, mango, and cabbage salad, and all your delicious berries and fruits sound *very* healthful to me, but OH OH OH! Hip Hop! I worry when I read that you are eating in a single day 2 strips of bacon, 5 sausage links, and 8 eggs!!!

Would you please read the following Harvard School of Public Health web page on protein, paying special attention to what they say about red meats and processed meats? http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritio...l#introduction

In my earlier post I quoted their health information about why not to eat more than one egg per day.
