It is understandable, it is not a style for everyone. Though usually I think it comes down more to the vocals. Sure if someone made strictly instrumental music in the style, maybe more people would at least see what goes into it.

I always look for instrumental Death Metal for that reason, but seems like it is few and far between. A few I have found here and there (not counting lil acoustic interludes/intros and the like - just thinking tracks that are strictly more Death Metal, just without vocals)
