The idea of these sub-genres is a good one. I am guessing the OP just meant people should stop fighting when it comes to what sub-style is better?

That basically what I meant. I will admit I do enjoy metalcore and deathcore and it pisses me off to no end when "real" metalheads bash those genres and make their fans feel like they're wrong for enjoying it.

Yeah, this wasn't just born out of fans, scenes themselves had it. Look at Norway and the Black Metal scene, and the competition (sometimes violent) between the Black Metal crowd and the Death Metal crowd. Was pretty much considered poseur to like Death Metal in that scene. Even bands like Darkthrone would be treated as poseurs cause they started out as a Death Metal band.

It is silly, but it has been a factor in metal for a very long time.

Honestly what classifies something as "black metal"
it seems to be that black metal is just death metal from Europe, that being said I've never really listened to it so I wouldn't know

I've noticed this strange affliction that seem to be prominent in metal.

Whenever anybody describes something as 'insert name here' metal. It's always a pile of shit.

and sometimes the difference between that new made up genre of metal and metal genres that already exist is so small and insignificant that it really doesn't deserve a whole new genre to define it..

and honestly, i got nothing against metal heads that want it this way but where does it stop?

i like S.O.A.D, The Deftones, Rammstein but in all honesty idk even know in what metal sub genres they fall on. lol

No worries, I wouldn't take offense to someone not liking that type of music, or take it as an attack on my being. I am old enough to know better.

It is understandable, it is not a style for everyone. Though usually I think it comes down more to the vocals. Sure if someone made strictly instrumental music in the style, maybe more people would at least see what goes into it.

I always look for instrumental Death Metal for that reason, but seems like it is few and far between. A few I have found here and there (not counting lil acoustic interludes/intros and the like - just thinking tracks that are strictly more Death Metal, just without vocals)
