Whether you like them or not they're still funk/funky tracks.

They're not standouts, and what's more, thinking back it's about FOUR SONGS that even lay claim to approaching funk rock. Whoop-te-blinkin' do.

Emit and Right On Time, not funk, particularly Emit which is far from funk. The last two you mention weren't even on the album but were bonuses/b-sides. That leaves us at, realistically, about four genuine funk rock tracks. Very funky indeed.

*Funky. I wasn't talking about Funk songs. I know that sounds anal, but it's what I meant.

Funky to me is something that sufficiently resembles funk. It would be special pleading to make such claims for Emit Remmus and Right On Time.

So whats your beef with the Chili peppers, you seem to really feel the need to prove they are a no good average non funk band?

Why is it that some people get so worked up if you criticize a band like the Chilis. I mean seriously, boo boo, you're talking as if I'm personally insulting you or something.

On the topic of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' more funk-orientated songs, it occurred to me the other day that a good deal of these songs may be more aptly passed off as being rooted in/influenced by hardcore punk, a la Beastie Boys. A number of the songs are also passable as old-school hiphop.

Songs like Right On Time particularly make me think of the hardcore.

They're considered a Funk-Punk band.
