Album Discription.

This is the first debut album from Brooklyn,New York indie rock band named MGMT. This ablum was released on October 2, 2007 on Columbia Records, available in CD and LP formats in January 22, 2008. This album has new versions of songs released on their previous, Time To Pretend EP which was released in 2005. The songs that have new versions are "Eledtric Feel" and "Kids". MGMT was named one of Last.fm's most played artists of 2008.

Album Review.

the first time I listened to MGMT was at a party. There was strobe lights and loud music. Everythign you would want, but my buddy played this one song. I could'nt figure out who it was by or what it was named. So I did research on Google to find the lyrics. The results for the song came up to be MGMT-Electric Feel. So I did even more reasearch for albums by this band because that 1 song had me from the begining. so I was searching and searching and came upon Oracular Spectacular. Every song on this CD were diffrent from each other. All diffrent from the other in their own way. If you get this album give it a listen 2 or 3 times. It's one of those things I guess has to "Come" on to people. Although I loved them from the get-go. I would suggest this album to everyone that kind of like techno cross with indie rock. som magazines have quoted this band to be "A college dorm experiment gone right!". So with that being said go grab you a copy and just sit and listen for hours on end. It will grow on you I know it will. Anyways all in all I would rate this CD a 10/10 stars because of it's songs that are very diffrent in each other, none of them sound the same and thats what i look for when i'm listening to a band.

The Killers- Hot Fuss

Okay so here I am again reviewing an album, But this one is going to be different. Yes people "Different". I am going to try my hardest and put 100% effort in to this review for you RIGHT-TRACK. Yep, a little different this time dedicating a review to right track, the reason I am dedicating it too him is for adopting me, and bringing me up from the lowest rung of the MB ladder to maybe up there with the well respected member of MB. So without any further "banting" from cory (How ironic) here is The Killers - Hot Fuss.

Track listing-

1. Jenny Was A Friend of Mine
2. Mr.Brightside
3. Smile Like You Mean It
4. Somebody Told Me
5. All These Things That I've Done
6. Andy, Your A Star
7. On Top
8. Change Your Mind
9. Believe Me Natalie
10. Midnight Show
11. Everything Will Be Alright

Album information.
Hot Fuss by the post post-punk band The Killers was the debut album from the Las Vegas, and was first released in 2004. This album is so great that it stayed in the Top 50 of the Billboard 200 for FIFTY WEEKS!!! This album reached #1 in both the UK and Australia. It has 4 singles off of this disk and sold more than 2,500,000 copies in the first year it was released, and since then 5,000,000 have been sold worldwide. Along with all of those great achievements Hot Fuss has earned 5 Grammys. That's amazing!

Album review.
I remember the days where me and my friends would be speeding down the street in one of our cars blasting music and just having a good time. We listened to everything rock, rap, country hell we even were flying down the street listening to some music from the twentys, but the one artist that was stuck in my head was The Killers. We would listen to them almost everytime we were in that car. The album just happened to be Hot Fuss too. What I'm trying to get at is this album is full of fun songs and great music. It keeps you right up there in the moment with every passing song. When you get to the end of the Cd you don't want it too end. With amazing tracks like Mr.Brightside you can just drop the top down and have a nice relaxing ride down by the beach. This album is different than most of the loud screaming beep bop music that I usually review. The Killers have a nice mellow flow and sound to their music. I could argue that this is one of the best post-punk bands of todays music scene.I would recommend this album to people who love post-punk music and semi-quite songs. Other albums by The Killers that I would suggest would be Sam's Town,Sawdust,Day & Age, and When You Were Young. So if this sounds like a great buy to you, which I can assure that it is. Go out and grab a copy and drop the top and just cruise.

I rate this album a 8/10 because "Punk" really isn't my thing but this band is a really good band

A Day to Remember-And Their Name Was Treason

Track Listing:
01. Intro
02. Heartless
03. Your Way with Words is Through Silence
04. A Second Glance
05. Casablanca Sucked Anyways
06. You Should Have Killed Me When You Had the Chance
07. If Looks Could Kill
08. You Had Me At Hello
09. 1958
10. Sound the Alarm

Abum Review:
The promo-sheet that came with this album says A Day To Remember embraces "both mosh and pop ala Saves The Day, melodic singing, and youth crew chants." This quite accurate, and I definaly agree with it. They have both hardcore and beautiful songs. This band is a mix of Hardcore and pop-punk styles. Alot of peopel hate this band and say that their styles are "cluster f*cks of style" but in my opinion they have alot of musical talent. Displayed very well in this album. They make great GREAT soft songs. A prime example of this is "You had me at hello". Thsi is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I do agree with alot of peopel that have reviewed this album that their lyrics are a bit harsh for "Thanking the heavenly father". Besides that little bugger this band is pretty sweet. This album was released in 2005 out of Indianola Records. (Which have alot of great bands.) My outlooks on this band is that they are doing pretty well in the musical scene. Like anyother band they have their lovers and haters. That is to be expected. I'll give you any example of their lyrics to let you decide if they are good.

Lyrics are from the song "You Had Me At Hello".

You had me at hello.

I've never seen a smile that can light the room like yours
It's simply radiant, I feel more with everyday that goes by
I watch the clock to make my timing just right

Would it be okay?
Would it be okay if I took your breath away?

And I'm wasting away, away from you.

What have I gotten into this time around
I know that I had sworn I'd never trust anyone again but I didn't have to
You had me at hello

So with that I'll let you decide on what you think of the band. I would personally tell you to go out and grab this album. It's a good listen.

I rate this album 8/10 because it is good but it has haters which take its reputation down a little bit, but all-in-all its a great album.

Album Review:
I love spending time with family, weather it be at get togethers or just sitting at the house. The one thign that I love doing is coloring with my nephew. He is 4 years old, and liek all kids he loves crayons and colored pencils. This album is great for just that. It's fun,kid friendly and dose'nt lack any musical taste at all. Just because I say this album is "Kid friendly" dose'nt mean it's some little Kidz Bop type deal going on. Actually this band is a side project of Chiodos, and like all of the other side bands Craig Owens has made it is great. So for me sitting and coloring with my nephew is great... Listening to Chiodos is great. Cinematic Sunrise is basically Chiodos. It's a win-win situation. Anyways this album is a little diffrent than the other albums Craig Owens has made. It's has more piano's and acoustic work. Lots less of the screaming. The story behidn the album art is a funny one. I read on the internet that Craig Owens was quoted "I asked for crayons but they gave me colored pencils. I got really mad." HAHA. Big deal aye? This album art has animals and hidden pictures of band members. It's quiet fun actually. I woukld reccomend this album to everyone. You can play it around kids and not get bored with it. So that brigns me to my rate of the album. I rate it a 10/10 because it is a NICE peice of work. So I would say go grab this album and if you like it grab a few Chiodos albums and a few Sound of Animals Fighting albums.

Winds of Plague - Decimate The Weak

Track Listing:

1. A Cold Day In Hell
2. Anthems of Apocalypse
3. The Impaler
4. Decimate the Weak
5. Origins and Endings
6. Angels of Debauchery
7. Reloaded
8. Unbeakable
9. One Body Too Many
10. Legions

Album Review:
This is an Deathcore band for California. This album is great. Everyone lieks a little soft music here and there, but I like a little Hardcore more here and less soft music there. This meanign that this band is an awesome California based band that uses two diffrent scream styles on this album. They use the signature Hardcore screams, and the deathcore "Cookie monster growl". I would sit in my room forever hold my microphone and just screaming along with this bands music. Europe has dominated the hardcore and metal scene through the 2000's, but with this band it shows that the good ol' USA dose'nt lack any talent. This album is relativly short, it's only 36 minutes long, but don't let that deture you. Thisis packed with crazy ear breaking deathcore like you've never heard. If you are a fan of the deathcore/melodic death metal/deathmetal scene I would for sure reccomend you this album. Similar artist to this band would be Whtiechapel and Salt the Wound. (Those are the more "WEll Known" bands.) I rate this album a 9/10. I rate it a nine and not a ten because it is really really short. I think they should bulk it up a little bit. So go out and grab you a copy. You won't be let down.

Heres a sample of them. (Crazy breakdown)

Alesana - On Frail Wings Of Vanity And Wax (Re-release)

Track Listing:
  1. Icarus
  2. Ambrosia

  4. Alchemy Sounded Good at the Time
  5. Daggers Speak Louder Than Words
  6. The Last Three Letters
  7. Apology
  8. Tilting the Hourglass
  9. This Conversation Is Over
  10. Congratulations, I Hate You
  11. The Third Temptation of Paris
  12. A Siren's Soliloquy
  13. Nero's Decay
Album Review:
This is'nt anything NEW really from alesana but a re-release from their 2006 album. This is a great album from Alesana. They have scored big tour with other great bands like Sky Eats Airplane and Haste The Day. If you want some agressive music but not "Deathcore" music this is your band. The are similar to Chiodos in their singing styles. The lead singer has a nice range of vocal talents. He can go from a bloodcurtling scream to a lovely soft melody. This CD was a bit "Failsafe" in the sense that the kids will gobble it up. The riffs are solid, the vocals are great, the drums are amazing. Alesana has great potential, and I hope the let it come through with the next album. Although this album is great the. All of the songs are about suicide attempts and breakups. Like I said Alesana has potential. Hopefully they will show it in their next album. I would rate this a 6/10 because the lyrics really don't differ from each other. Anyway, if you like this band I would reccomend albums from Chiodos,Haste the Day, and Sky Eats Airplane.

Winds of Plague - Decimate The Weak

I have just checked out the video for The Impaler and I laughed my ass off. Terrible lightweight music with a vocalist wearing a hoodie and throwing Eminem hand shapes and women pole dancing. Look at the album cover and the song titles and I ask WTF is this band about?

I thought I would reply to your thread out of politeness but if the music is no good then I'm not gonna bullshit around I'm afraid.

coryallen2 05-11-2009 10:39 AM

Yeah the video is pretty....questionable. But I like them. Cradle of Filth is better though.

"Cradle of Filth are better" sounds like such a MASSIVE insult.

Album Review:
This album came out way before my time. The way I found out about it was when me and my dad were driving to the store and I showed him some of my music. He said "Cory, your music is good and all,but I think it's about tiem you heard a band that made music the way it is today." So I was like "Made music the way it is today? This should be great!". So he popped in disc 1 and played The Wall. I loved them from the start. This album is great, both disc 1 and 2. Pink Floyd is one of the most popular bands in the history of rock. And man do they deserve it. With their great guitar works and lyrics its almost an orgasm for the ear. Well it is'nt almost an orgasm its a full on eargasm. With their psychadelic sounds and mystifying vocals this band should be appealing to about everyone that listens to music. My father once told me that when he was about my age (15-16 years old) That he would play this album in his house and his dad would yell at him to "Turn that S*it off!". He said that kind of music was shunned by his parents like rap music is in my family these days. But through that I think Pink Floyd has proven themselves in this fantastic album. This is definatly one of the most popular CD's to date. I would rate it a 10/10 because this band is just OWNAGE. Who ever dose'nt like them should not be listening to rock and roll. If you have never listened to Pink Floyd...What the hell are you waiting for?!?! Go out and grab this cd ASAP.

Rush - Moving Pictures

Track Listing:

1. Tom Sawyer
2. Red Barchetta
3. YYZ
4. Limelight
5. The camera eye
6. Witch hunt (Part III of Fear)
7. Vital signs

Album Review:
OOoooh yes. A Rush album. This is the album that really got me listening to Rush. I'm a little new to them sadly. I wish I could have found out about them earlier. Their sounds are so clean. They vocals are great. Not to mention the drummer I would kill to be. Critics say this band is quote "Humorous and boring and pretentious" Well what do I have to say to the critics? Blow me. This band is great. Although I did find out about them in a sort of "lame" way. So heres the story. The first time I heard a song from Rush was when I was playing Guitar Hero. Yes ladys and gentlemen....Guitar Hero. But hey everyone has to learn some where. Anyways. The first song I heard was YYZ then Tom Sawyer then Working Man. After I heard those songs I was like "WOW! This band is not half bad." So I ran to the mall and picked up this CD. I have spent countless nights listening to it. I just put it in and listen to it to fall asleep. No I don't fall asleep because it is boring, I fall asleep because the sounds are just so soothing. I don't think there is any vocalist that can top the vocals of Rush. Anyways, if you have never heard Rush you must live in a cave. (like I was). So check out their songs Tom Sawyer,Working Man,and YYZ. YYZ is the greatest work of art I have ever heard. It's an enlightening instramental that you could listen too on a bad day that would make you "perk" up. I would rate this album a 9/10 because I really disapprove of short albums. I would rather them have put about 13 songs on than just 7, this being because I want to here more Rush for my money.

Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies

Track Listing:

1. Daylight Dies
2. This Is Absolution
3. Arms of Sorrow
4. Unbroken
5. My Curse
6. For You
7. My Heart Still Beats Your Name
8. Through the Eye of the Storm
9. Break the Silence
10. Desperate Times
11. Reject Yourself

Album Review:
AWwwwwWWwww yeahhhhhhya. This is a magnificent album from the metalcore band Killswitch Engage. This band has everything that a metalhead would want. Mosh pits, beer chugging, and hardcore vocals. I only really got into this band about 3 months ago. This album really changed my out look on them. Before I knew really who they were they were just another metal band thats it just another metal act. But how I came across this album is: I was bored at school so I was looking for some Trivium music. My search led me to the Roadrunner Records homepage. After about an hour of listening to the same Trivium songs I said "Awww. What the hell, I'll give Killswitch a chance." And man was I amazed. The reasons I was amazed are first off this band has everything a metalhead would want as I stated earlier. Second, a black man in the metal world was not known of. I think it is amazing that the band changed lead singers and got even better. I mean the old Killswitch was pretty good from what I hear. (Listen to the song "My last serenade." It's a great song that ironicly was wrote by the old lead singer when he was going to leave the band. But man what about the songs? My favorite song on here would have to be "This is Absolution". It's a great song that you should really give a listen. I rate this album a 8/10, I rate it an 8 because I don't really like when they sing "Normally". It is'nt that appealign to me. Anyways my rate is actually really good. How could I rate them any lower with crowds the size of the one in this video. The song in the video is "This is Absolution". Also they have so pretty good lyrics. Here's a sample. They are from the song "My Last Serenade."

from sorrow to serenity, the truth is absolution
from sorrow to serenity, it's on your head
this is my last serenade
I feel you as you fall away
this is my last serenade
from yourself you can't run away

Album Review

Well since my little vacation I have wrote a couple review in my notebook. Yes, I have a notebook just for MusicBanter album reviews. I have about 5 album reviews I need to post but the notebook is at home and i'm at school. The album review is coming right out of my head. I've had no rough draft or anything, so let's see how I do.

Dommin is a great band out of Roadrunner Records. This album came out in early 2009 as a digital single. This band will keep you sitting down and listening to it. I'm not really into the "gothic rock" genre but this band has definatly changed my outlook on the genre. I will now try to look for more bands like this one. The first time I heard this band was when I was trying to find somewhere I could listen to Killswitch Engage. My school blocks Youtube and Last.Fm. So my search landed me on Roadrunenr Records homepage. I was scrolling through the artists that are in this record label and a picture of the band Dommin popped up. I can't believe i'm going to admit this but I kind of like Elvis. What does this have to do with anything? Well the lead singer on the album looked like Elvis to me. So a little light in my head click and said " well he looks like him, I wonder if he sounds like him." Sadly he did'nt. But I was not at a total loss. This band was great. I could'nt believe it. I don't really like when bands "cry" so to speak when they are making music but this band is allowed. Why? Well they are good at it. In my opinion this band is "The sound of the broken hearted." Anyways, I think you shoudl definatly give this band a listen, because I'm going to rate them a 10/10. Whatever band can make a break-up song that's actually good. Deserves a 10/10. Album Review

Man I just can't get enoughe of the bands coming out of Roadrunner Records. All of the bands in that label are just amazing. This time I come at you with a band that is a little diffrent from a gothic metal band. Nightwish is a Finnish band that has been gone for 3 years. While they were gone they were putting together this amazing album. This band is very diffrent from alot of the others. It has beautiful melodic piano peices mixed with hardcore guitar riffs. The one thing that sticks out alo though is the lead singer. The lead singer is a female. Yes a women is rocking out in a melodic metal band, and man does she really ROCK! Her voice is something like a little taste of heaven. It's so beautiful i can't get enoughe of it. This band along with Dommin have sealed my fate with gothic metal. I love it. I'll give you a little bio on this band. Nightwish is a symphonic power metal (I call it melodic metal) band that formed in Kitee,Finland in 1996. The have sold more than 5 milluion CD's worldwide. They have released 7 studio albums and plan to release an 8th soemtime next year. I really think you guys should check out this band. They are amazing. They are that kind of band that when you listen to them you get tingly inside. I rate this album a 10/10 because a women that rocks that hard deserves every 10 in the world. Below is a sample of a song off this CD. Give it a listen you won't be dissapointed.

Album Review

October Rust is the fourth album released by Type O Negative. It was released in 1996. This album has more of a gothic rock feel to it than any other album released by this band before this album was released. This is a great album by Type O Negative. I just recently got into gothic rock. I explain how in my earlier reviews. The vocals in this are great. This album contains a cover of Neil Youngs "Cinnamon Girl". A much much heavier cover. For people who are Neil Young purists and don't like to hear cover songs by their favorite bands... Give this one a shot. You won't be dissapointed. This album had me listening from the start. I've only listened to it about 1 1/2 times, but i'm not dissapointed yet. This album at it's peak reached number 42 on the billboard top 200. If you have never heard of this band or have never listened to them check them out. You won't be dissapointed. I rate this album a 8/10 because the vocals are great but I really don't like "Joke intro's".

Album Review

Anberlin is a band that formed in Florida in 2002. They are an american alternative rock group. This band has'nt always been under this name or the same genre. They used to be a band called SaGoh 24/7 in the late 1990's. They released 2 studio albums under that name. They have released 4 studio albums under the name Anberlin. This is a really good album. The best song on here in my eyes would be "Feel Good Drag". It's pretty popular on the radios over here in the USA. It starts out with a little bit of a rythem, then mellows out and he sings the first verse and when he gets to "Were do we begin" the chorus starts. It's a very mellow song more drum work then anything else. The vocals in this song are incredible. When he sings the verses he is singing in a deeper tone and when the chorus comes he gets a high pitch melody goign that could suck you through the speakers. After about half of the song all the instraments get quite and it's just his voice. After that it transforms into him just owning who ever this song is about. With that song and all of the others on this album, this album is going to be a huge success. You guys and girls have probably heard these guys before the chorus to "Feel Good Drag" goes like "Was this over before, Before it ever began..." I would reccomend this album to anyone that likes Alternative rock like Staind,Trapt or Nickleback. If you like this album I would reccomend you to go get there other three albums that are titled "Blueprints For The Black Market :2003" "Never Take Friendship Personal :2005" "Cities :2007". I will rate this album a 10/10 because it is just amazing. The talent of the guitars and vocals is just somethign to die for. So go grab a copy of this Album and the other three. Also below is a link to the video for "Feel Good Drag". Enjoy.

I do have a soft spot for Type O Negative despite their cliched Goth tinged Metal. I haven't got that album either. I only have Origin Of The Feces and Dead Again.

^ I take it you appreciate me reviewing them then. =]

It's about time Anberlin are gettin' some love. I blindly bought their first album several years ago, and have been hooked since. I have to disagree with comparing them to Staind, Trapt, or Nickelback... not even the same genre, in my opinion. I'd place them slightly in the emo, heavy in the indie rock, with influences of alt. rock, for sure. I don't have anyone to compare them to, so I guess I shouldn't shoot down yours... nevertheless, good pick!

Thanks man! Yeah, I don't really agree with them compared to them either but I try to keep information in my reviews accurate. I googled similar bands to them and those are the most appearing results that occured on Google. Anyways,Thanks for commenting the review it seems you were happy with it. I'll try to get some more from them up there though. Do you have any albums that you would like to see reviewed in here?

Good album... Wolf Moon and Cinnamon Girl are my stand outs... Probably third fave Type O album though behind Bloody Kisses and World Coming Down.

I like Type O simply because the don't take themselves seriously... Helps a lot when you are dealing with a genre like goth metal.
