Default The War on Drugs "Slave Ambient" (2011)

Slave Ambient is the second studio album by the folk rock band The War on Drugs (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and was released on August 16, 2011. The first track "Best Night" is a strong opening to a very solid album. The band takes influence and sounds from classic folk rock artists like Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. The album is a perfect example of autumn driving music with repetitive drum beats, charming vocals and soft guitars and keyboards. There is not a definitive climax moment on this album that sticks out more than the other sections and songs, but rather each song modestly rolls along into another giving off a relaxed tone the entire way through. The album is not without it's flaws though, the absence of a seemingly missing climax moment gives an uninterested ear an unsatisfying feeling after finishing the album. All in all, a good 2011 release, listen while watching the leaves change colours.

7/10
