The search function seems to prioritize newer threads over older ones, even if the older has keywords in the title itself. It makes it difficult to find threads, and I've given up searching many times.

Just select 'in ascending order' instead of 'in descending order'.

I truly don't understand your problem. Are you saying that people shouldn't talk among themselves so much, should concentrate on creating/maintaining music topics? Is this an office? Are we at work, where we all huddle in our cubicles and dare say nothing out of place? No, it's a community, a place to shoot the breeze, catch up with the people you like/have similar interests to/want to annoy/whatever, and not always take yourself too seriously. It's a place to kick back and relax in.

I always think of MB as a pub or club, where you can go to meet your mates. No-one says in the pub you have to discuss football, or music, or women, or men, and if someone strays off topic no-one says "Hey! Hey! That's not the subject! Stay on topic! And mine's a pint!" Well, maybe the last part... :D

Why should any site like this try to maximise its members at the expense of the overall enjoyment and success of the forum? Quantity over quality? Surely not. This is the sort of place where you can say what's on your mind, laugh and joke with people, slag them off, be slagged, make smart replies and occasionally talk about music.

That said, I maintain three separate journals here, so no-one could accuse me of not being dedicated or not taking the discussion of music seriously. It's just you want other stuff too. It's not a job, as I say, it's fun. Remember fun?

Anyhoo, if only two of you have a problem with the way the site is run, then it's hardly really a problem at all, is it? Everyone else seems happy... To quote Spock, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one."

And that's nothing if not logical.

I'll respond to you because your post, unlike others, is low on ridicule.

First of all, there's "The Lounge" for the pub atmosphere. I propose no changes to that part of the site.

More importantly, it's not only two people with a problem. If walls could or would talk, many other dissatisfied legitimate visitors would be heard. Of course the relatively low volume of posts per registered member ought to make that clear. Also, as far as I can tell, there are few if any similar websites where the situation would be better for us who want more active, pleasant music discussion. The needs of many are not being met.

Much of this site could be cleaned up with little or no loss of enjoyment to the currently satisfied members, except for those who would need to work harder (at clean-up) or be sanctioned for rules violations. Maybe some old-timers would make new friends as a result of increased traffic. Why not try it my way?

I asked you to move on. I realize you're replying to a post but please make this your last post in this thread for the time being.

Agreed!
If there's anything I'd want to push up to the admins, it's this. I'm sure it's just a matter of adding the code in the plugin portion of the site's admin panel. Unfortunately, we've asked for far lesser things and were denied. :(

Sparky 01-15-2013 10:52 PM

how recently you ask?

i mean it really couldn't be much easier for admin to do
SoundCloud » SoundCloud player in forums (5-step guide for SoundCloud BB code)

he more or less just has to copy and paste

Yeah, it would be nice. It's definitely something I've seen elsewhere before.

Yea I agree. I don't think the issue ever had to do with difficulty level, though. Some of the stuff we asked for previously was a matter of ticking a checkbox. It's not really Yac's place to approve. He has to push it up the chain himself.

It's definitely worth asking Yac about, regardless what the final answer would be. :)

That's why PMs are always better than visitor messages.

When you have a new visitor message you get a little notification on your User CP page, but not everyone goes to their CP. So yeah, a PM is way better. Why'd you wait around for 3 and a half months for a reply anyhow?
