This site is polluted with crap, I've noticed it a lot more since I've been on a bunch in the past couple months One and two word answers to questions asked rhetorically or weeks ago, pointless threads abound, numerous posters who almost exclusivity post in the lounge and non-music forums.

I know I've been one of the loudest but I was quiet for years and will be again if I am the only one or one of a small minority who feel this way.

I think to really solve the problem we need to look at the type of people who start and propagate these threads and compare that to their other contributions to the forum. I see no problem with cutting the dead weight, there a lots of forums on the net, no need to guarantee their right to post in this one.

I understand the concept of fairness and equality, but I also think that sometimes we protect the letter of the law as opposed to the spirit. The idea of having the rules is to protect the interest of the people who make up the community.

I will be happy to except a banning if and when a significant number of this sites members find my contributions to be detrimental to the site.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

all quite true. there are quite a few members that are hell-bent on posting in the lounge rather than the music forums, and that's all and well but when it starts growing into a roaming twitter account whenever people can post whatever they like it starts detracting from the quality of the forum overall. i don't mind the lounge but as is there's a growing edginess competition that really makes me question certain people's motives in joining MB.

as for the OP, absolutely. those threads are worthless and provide absolutely no value to the community.

It could be ignored, but I would like seeing this site brought back to its music discussions. With the many new members in early to mid 2009 attention has been gravitating more towards lounge activity.

edit: And one more thing. For all you newbies out there who I CONSTANTLY see degrading other members and even newer newbies, please stop and remember this. Until you have contributed something worthwhile to this forum (compilations, reviews, your work, etc) keep your mouth shut. You may disagree but the only people who should be giving anyone a hard time for something is members such as Captin Caveman, who as much as I may dislike, actually contributes to the forum.
true, any of you guys who think you're hot **** need to remember that you can be gone just like that

I agree. I really don't mind the threads, or any in the lounge for that matter, but some of the core posters in these threads have begun to fill up the music forums with post sof the same quality, and the music forums have higher standards then the lounge. I know I'm definatley not one to talk when it comes to quality posts, but there are much worse offenders.

I understand the frustration at the amount of 'Rate this, rate that' threads in the Lounge but at the same time I think the Lounge is a good place to have a laugh and get to know the other members etc. Feel free to delete the 'Rate custom user title' one if you like along with 'Newspaper Cuttings', and I do agree the 'rate your location' one was pretty shit. I dont post exclusively in the Lounge, but I will admit it is the area I frequent most often.

Also, I can understand how the people who have spent gruelling hours doing album reviews, journals etc will be pissed off. I know I dont contribute to that aspect of the site, but plan to in the near future. Another thing I must point out about the Lounge is that I dont think the posts in there contribute to your overall post count but I see what yous are getting at. Perhaps The Lounge needs a clean up?

i thought we all secretly felt this way, but for some reason we all enjoyed getting the inane ramblings and constant bullshit force fed to us far too much to do anything about it.

am i wrong?

I'd say about 6/10, I like dogs, but it's not really filling up the screen how I'd like it to.

Yeah, get rid of them all.
