Damn double posts, my bad.
Are you saying that because he disagrees with you, or are you saying that to genuinely have the rules enforced? I say this because I think there's more than one person in that thread that warrant a mention.

I agree wholely with what Mojo said. He did used to be a mod, and it makes me wonder, has boo boo ever changed? I don't mean this as nasty to the guy as I do like him. I find it hard to believe if he hasn't changed and was modded.

2 infractions resulting from this thread. Should I close it, or would that be too controversial?

I considered it but I stopped because I remembered this thread was for discussing bans in general and not just the whole boo boo thing. I say give it one more chance...if the thread gets out of hand again I say close it.

I was being sarcastic mostly.
I think people should be allowed and encouraged to debate about this stuff. The ones who can't do it without resorting to personal attacks will be dealt with.

Yeah i say leave it open. If it does continue to get out of hand then it will need closing but for now, let people voice their opinions. I have to say though, i like the way the mods here go about their business. I like the fact that whereas some forums will strictly stick to the rules and leave no room for exceptions or circumstances where common sense can prevail on the part of the moderator's, we seem to embrace common sense and take each case as we see it in an attempt to deal with any issues that need dealing with while still trying to preserve activity on the forums and not drive people away by overmodding them.

A few members have seemed to suggest that we should treat every member in exactly the same way, whether they are here to be a part of the community or are here to provoke argument, troll and generally make the forum a much less enjoyable place. I'm not claiming that this will start to happen, that we will start to moderate the site this way as it isn't my place to speak for every member of the mod team but the fact is that if this happens and we begin to adopt the policy that these are the rules and if you stray even slightly outside of them then you are infracted every single time, with no consideration of the circumstances surrounding it and the effect it will have on the community as a whole and then ultimately find yourself banned somewhere down the line for repeat offences, then every member would have to brace themselves for infractions and bans being thrown around here more often than they ever have been before.

I know that for one, i wouldn't want to see this happen.

bungalow should be banned for life.
He was in the past on at least 4 occasions. If boo boo doesn't get the privileges of bungalow, then neither should he.
The only reason he's here now is because sleepy jack promised to babysit him, against my better judgement.
My biggest regret wasn't banning him before I stepped down.

sleepy jack is gone and he's still here and he hasn't changed one bit.
Just a little more slyer than before.

I still call for his banning.

There's no need for a poll.
The mods won't have taken boo boo's ban lightly and you can bet it was discussed at length the last time he was banned and before his return..

This is true, there was name-calling on both sides during that argument. However, when Zaqarbel stopped the insults, Suessicide continued to belittle him. My bias rings through, doesn't it?

I'm sure you're right in the sense that the mods thought it best to ban him. I just thought that usually the mods do what they think will best serve MB. But when there's a 14 page thread debating the decision, it's not quite as clear anymore if the decision best served the forum as a whole.

I'm as sorry to see boo boo go as much as you, but the policy among the moderators is to allow members to effectively ban themselves.
If a member is warned and banned constantly and doesn't learn, then the decision to ban them becomes their own.
It's no good criticising the mods for boo boo's banning. The final decision was put in his own hands.
Another 14 pages of debating won't change boo boo.
