Here's a topical question: What is the length of ban times that mods have at their disposal? Could you ban someone for like an hour just to let them cool off, or is there a minimum length of time alotted for specific offenses?

It's a list from the minimum of 1 day through a week, then 10 days, then 2 and 3 weeks, then a month, etc. etc., up to 1 year, then 2 years, then permanent.
There's no time allotted for any particular offense. It's fundamentally a separate option that can be used if necessary.

That's called banning someone for whatever time frame, and unbanning them a minute later.

The one day minimum is simply the preset option that's available to us.
Again, there are no qualifications for banning time, other than simply what the moderators agree on and decide to select from the preset list.
