Actually, I don't mind transparency, but I don't think I'd want to report in a thread to the whole community every time I ban someone. Besides, when explaining why you ban someone, you'd also have to demonstrate how the banned member broke the rules. Often, the banned member's offending posts will be deleted and so reports like that could put the banned user in a worse light than he/she would otherwise be. Hence, perhaps there should be some level of discretion - not the keeping it a secret kind, but perhaps we shouldn't advertise the reasons why when people are banned.

But, if someone sends me a PM asking me why I banned someone, I'm happy to explain with quotations of the offending posts etc. It's only natural members of the community are curious, interested or even offended which is perfectly alright, so don't hesitate to send a PM.
