And I don't choose friends when moderating either, in most cases I end up choosing the same people that most of the forum would want there. There's been several times I've put my own feelings about someone aside to moderate with them because I think they deserve the chance.

You speak for you. Even if that is true of the others, I'd be surprised if any moderator would approve a personally disliked individual as a new moderator, which breeds sameness. To me, most moderators seem similar to each other and not idea people, and this website needs new ideas.

Speaking of that, Pete's idea should be implemented if technically possible.

I find it interesting that you have so much to say yet you only post on the forum when it's something to do with changing the forum.

I meant in that thread - her response was not elevating the conversation. I don't have a problem with her, I actually like her. I'm just calling a spade a spade which it seems like Mods won't do (understandably) and I will do because

A. It happened.
B. I think it cuts to the heart of the matter.

That thread was devolving into a ****storm. And I say that based on the two comments prior to my asking for it to be locked.

Regarding Loathsome Pete's suggestion - I also like that Lounge posts won't pop up in New Posts thread. Again, I think thats still punishing normal folk who don't mind just posting their position, and it lets the jerks win, but you guys need to keep the order. Do as you see fit.

And while I'm at it - The ****ing name changes need to end. Its like every other god damn week around here.

Happens all the time, and we disagree on lots of things. One minute we're being criticised for not being consistent with each other the next we're too alike.
Either way we can't seem to win.

And why is it so hard for you to believe I put aside personal feelings for the good of the site? I'm only 1 person of 7 to 10 mods. None of us get things our own way all the time.

Regarding the starting topic of the thread: Music is being talked about less and less.

The same people saying that in this thread are the same ones not participating in music forum events. A prime example would be a thread I created about 2 weeks ago which involved 10 users submitting a song to me of their choice. After receiving 10 I was to put it into a compilation (tagging everything...meta/etc) and release a link where people could download this 10 song album and then discuss everyones pick in the thread. Do you know how many PM's I recieved with songs....? 1 from a new member that had joined a week ago and thats it.

Many other compilation and mixtape type threads used to exist and they died out because no one was posting in them except the same core group of people. Urban brought up a great point in his journal (another thing people do not take the time to read...all the great journals like Trollhearts, Urbans...and many more) that most of the replies in the what are you listening to threads, albums "reviews", and band threads are just filled with one sentence responses and youtube videos with absolutely nothing else in the post.

I think the biggest part of the music forums feeling dead like they do is the member interaction through events like compilations/mixtapes/contests/etc...We need more of this and it is not just up to the mods to do so but the regulars as well (myself included). Hopefully someone actually reads this and gives what I said a thought. I am not the oldest forum member but have been here for 6 years which is long enough to see that member participation has gone wayyyyy down.

Lets fix that, or at least discover some new ways get people involved.

See this is the exact thing I was talking about when I said I'd rather be doing stuff on the forum than discussing what to do about drama in the mod forum. I don't see stuff like this.
I remember when we first started those compilations, you'd get like 20 people respond and when one came out it was a big deal and virtually the whole forum would get involved.
I was just thinking that getting something like that going would be a good thing, I had no idea you had already done one.

If you want to re-do it, start a thread in General Music and i'll sticky it. And with what's been discussed in this thread now I'll be disappointed if you get less than at least 15 replies.

If you build this, I will come.

Depending on how it goes, it could be both ways for me.

Do you want me to just bump the one I made before? Or I can make a new one and alert you to sticky.
