Personally, I don't think new members should let not getting a lot of responses to their introduction thread get to them or take it as a sign of apathy from the general MB community. My intro thread only got a response from one person, but I realised that didn't necessarily mean that I wasn't welcome, just that no one knew anything about me and that I could be a spammer or a person that only posted once and then left for all anyone knew.
In my opinion, if you are a new member you should first prove that you are here to do what the site is meant for, and then you will be deserving of welcoming and people will probably also be welcoming towards you.
Of course I see nothing wrong with welcoming new members in their intro threads; on the contrary, it's great! But new members shouldn't take it for granted.

edit: Whoa there's been a lot of new posts since I started writing this, how do you guys type so fast, lol

With video though a lot of my vulnerability comes out, I think because I am talking to a screen that is not answering back lol, and instead of nervous I feel exposed.
I completely understand that, I am a little too confident sometimes and it can come off as arrogant.

I'm glad to see people legitimately thinking about this!

Just a few things I might add...

For the record, I didn't make an introduction thread, I just started posting.

I eventually made an intro thread for no other reason than to explain my music interests.

Who cares if everyone welcomes them? That would seem a little disingenuous to me. It would seem faked. But the natural progression of people welcoming others, when they see the post, or feel like they want to welcome someone feels like a better fit to me.

Then just,

"Hi everyone my name is Bob"

"Hi Bob!" (REALLY?)
I think you are over exaggerating just a tad.

Like I said, it only takes a few seconds, and most new members aren't going to be thinking "Well I wonder if this person is saying hi just to say that he or she did," They'll be instead thinking, "Hey, that person welcomed me! He or she was nice to do that."

That's at least how I see it.

There are twenty garbage-posting spammers, at least, for every real human legitimate potential new member

I done told you and I told you. When I say leave me be it means don't quote me trying to entice me to respond to you. This is the last time I will say this.

LEAVE ME BE. Really, I know you are trying to get me to respond to you in some type of way, because if you kept reading you, you would have realized what I meant by that.

If you don't leave me the **** alone, we are going to have a serious problem.

Put him on ignore Roxy if you feel like he is upsetting you that badly.

It's not that he upsets me badly, it's that he baits and enjoys rubbing me the wrong way. I dunno why else someone would keep ****ing with you after you tell them to step off. REPEATEDLY.

I am absolutely not trying to instigate something with you.

And I actually do see what you're talking about and I did not mean to single you out at all, your post was the only thing I wanted to reply to. That was not my intention and I apologize if it appeared that way.

Having said that, you need to chill out.

Look, I like to have intense discussions with people and I may at times appear to attack you personally, but that is NOT my intention to do so. I'm just very, very competitive.

What I don't understand is why you now are dismissing all of my posts as some attempt to rile or provoke you.

Did you even read my last post? I can't even begin to fathom what you saw in it that made you think I was attacking you, other than the statement that I think you are over exaggerating–but I literally don't know how to make that statement any less severe than it is.

If I had said "I think you're ****ing over exaggerating and you don't know what hell you're talking about." THEN it makes sense to assume I'm attacking you, but I never said anything like that.

Bro, I don't really enjoy your posts, I don't enjoy the things you say you come across like an arrogant prick. I have told you separately 3 times to leave me alone, in three separate threads no less, for way less then this. You are the first poster to ever ever make me have to say that. I don't care what you think, I don't care what you have to say. It's very simple, you do you. Imma do me and neither the ****ing two shall meet.

But if you keep trying to talk to me, and trying to have discussions with me that I don't want to have with you, then you come across like an aggressive, pirckish trollish poster. Just ****in leave me alone already ****!
