I hope it's self-imposed and temporary. We need you here !

All bans are self imposed. He allowed himself to talk/speak like a d-bag and it's temporary but I fear the way Ant feels about things may be permanent.

That's deep !! Thanks for the explanation, Exo.

What does that mean? And where's my damn horoscope, lady? ;)

Lisna, in fairness anyone can get a ban. Longevity doesn't equal or sometimes have any relationship to behaviour. There should be, and I hope is, no preference or special treatment given to people who act like a-holes just on the basis of how long they've been here. Ant did say a lot of close-to-the-edge stuff (and I'm not talking about the Yes album here!) so while I'm surprised, I'm kind of not surprised. Maybe this ban (first ever for Anteater? Am I right?) will be a wake-up call for him. Who knows?

I just hope he doesn't think he was banned for his politics and not for offensive statements. I imagine that would have been made clear to him?

Trollheart 10-17-2021 01:15 PM

I doubt anyone is banned for their politics. If you can have a Nazi themed avatar, I think it can be taken that the policy on people's political beliefs is pretty relaxed here. It's when either those politics are used to attack someone else, or I guess to support any sort of hate speech or incitement to violence (not saying by any means Ant was guilty of this) that I would imagine the politics and the member have to be looked at as one unit, and a decision made.

But maybe we'll be told, and maybe we won't. Bans can be a very personal thing, and not everyone wants it ban-died (sorry) about why they got the hammer on the head.

the reason for Ant's ban was obvious, there should have been no need to make clear to him that it wasn't a matter of politics

Now if you were just trying to protect the defenceless insects from this danger to them, I guess I can understand that. But how far does it go? When does it stop? You going to ban a guy called Venus Flytrap2021 to save the little flies? Bigfatcat gets banned because he's hassling mice? Then RowdyDog has to go because he's a danger to cats? When does this madness end??? :yikes:

That was whack. I made a statement that could just as easily be applied to people born with asthma or literally anything else that's not some ideal condition. It wasn't hateful - I was making a broader observation about how ****ed up humanity is biologically and got banned for it. Absolutely ridiculous.

Trans people are human beings that deserve all the same rights as anyone else. But again, had nothing to do with what I wanted to say. I don't appreciate being banned mid-discussion just because Batlord likes to cry wolf.

What a pussy.
