The funniest thing is they made a general chat thread where all these off topics comments would fit but nobody uses it. :p:

ofc you did you just cause don't care for it!

Given members here luv going off topic just to chat you would think a general chat thread would work here but it doesn't.

I think I get it. TH, as in, sound as if you were to say "the", sound snakes make? Maybe. Would have worked better if my initials had been SS though...

Thanks man. I try. I am the bane of the mods in the journals section! :tramp: Dear god will he just stop posting! Just for a minute! Just so I can have this sandwich! Please???

Urban Haltmincer - we give you so much material for your snarky comments. Come on man step it up, take your pick of any of Roxxys posts.
The amount of gold Urban posts here, I think he's allowed a slow day.

Soilflower - Wish she'd take up a less emotionally fueled approach to music discussion.
Have to say, nothing I've read from her so far has made me want to know her any better. Histrionics seem to be her thing.

Also, love the misspelling. Accident? ;)

It did. Then it stopped and now its as bad as its ever been.

I'm out. If everyone manages to stop being so ****ing ignorant, stupid, petty, and frankly, ****ing redneck on these forums, feel free to invite me back. But as long as this place is the kind of hell where people really think there's a debate on whether you can say fa gg ot or the n word or where people are going to keep forgiving unthinking prejudice over and over, I'm out.

I don't understand all of this doom and gloom; the Music and Journal forums are as strong as they've ever been. And the Lounge is just as superficial as it's always been. Honestly, people are freaking out about how "bad" things have gotten, when the only risque things going on in the Lounge at the time was an air-clearing between Chula and Roxy, a few people chiding JWB for using a particular word, and the usual amount of off-topic banter. And guess what? Not one of those things affected the rest of the website in a negative way. In fact, they had positive effects. People finally got to express their opinions, which put grudges to rest, allowed people to convey that they took offense to something, and also simply provided an avenue for letting off steam. In the end, everyone gained a bit of understanding about their fellow members.

It's actually pretty insulting when people keep taking shots at the maturity of people who post in the Lounge. Because not only are they incredibly kind (albeit in a candid way), they also never let their fights and banter spill out into the Music forums. And when they do (which is rare), you can bet that the Mods are going to delete that junk faster than a "Modern musik sux" thread. So how exactly is anything that happens in the Lounge affecting the rest of the website? It's all self-contained, so if you think going to the Lounge is a waste of time, then all you have to do is ignore it. Just don't go there. It seems kind of masochistic for someone who hates off-topic rambling to go into the part of the website that was specifically created for that kind of content.

To summarize, I can understand when people get frustrated about arguing in the Lounge. People could definitely use PM's more often, rather than clutter threads up with posts. But it's not nearly as horrible of a place as people are making it out to be, and I really think that it still serves a useful and valid purpose.

Lastly, I just have one final thing to say, and it's not specifically directed at you. If people disagree with me, that's fine. You should all express your opinions, and we can all talk about things in a reasonable manner. I can understand your points of view, and I respect them. But if there's one thing that really bothers me, it's the people who come into a thread like this just to say something along the lines of "Ha! Everyone who posts in this thread is a loser!" or "I can't believe you people are still talking about this". To me, that is the real spam of Music Banter, and it always translates to little more than "I have absolutely nothing to contribute to this discussion, but want everyone to see what a paragon of maturity I am. Bask in my glow, o ye little worms."

As opinionated as Soulflower is, she's not a bad person.

She's one of the few members here ive Pm'd and she has always been courteous to me in them and on the forums, i see everybody arguing with her and i see her taking everybody alone and i don't like it.

She's no victim though.
i do think ppl here have valid reasons to dislike her but they take that dislike too far and gang up on her to the point it feels like bullying sometimes.

Again with the "this person was nice to me so they're unquestionably a good person"...wtf? The Iceman killer had a wife and kids that loved him. Is he a good person?

Upon further review he didn't. His wife and teenaged daughter planned on killing him at one point.

Ya'll should pop into plug.dj more often. One of the nice things is you can do real time chatting in there. I feel like I've gotten to know a few of the members here a lot better just by chatting with them while listening to cool tunes.

It's a matter of preference and looking beyond members cyber personas

ive argued with her in the past yet when i addressed her in pms she knew how to put that aside and addressed me as a person.

She gave me that shred of decency alot of ppl don't give nowadays.
