If you mean literally everything, then you haven't been paying much attention.

But yeah, shame on me for liking harmonic interplay, a.k.a. a facet of music known for centuries to be pleasing to the human ear.

Someone's getting wise to the fact that they're a poseur. A unique taste is more refined than a walking cliche any day.

You're pretty much exactly what I'm talking about as the opposite tbh. I think you basically fell in love with punk and then nerded out on how to be a proper punk (with obvious post-punk elitism) and years later you're still filtering everything you hear, from music to politics, through that lens rather than forming real opinions of your own. There's no way a real human being who was in command of their own music taste would be like you.

So you're trying to say that I should try to not be like everyone else? I'm just being me, whatever that makes me compared to others.

Ja, you really break those misconceptions with the one funk artist that you listen to.

In what universe is post-punk and punk not generally quite immediate? It's one of the main virtues of both genres.

One of my main genres is all this "boring" singer-songwriter stuff that doesn't exactly jump out and grab you by the throat with powerful pop hooks, but it's definitely not 9 minute long complex and multi-layered fusion jazz exercises either.

To me, music is 95% about the "vibe". How it makes me feel. Immediacy or lack thereof is neither (despite what I said about punk) positive or negative. It's just a neutral qualifier.

Although I definitely love a good, shameless pop hook. There's a reason I love Lady Gaga <3

So what're your favourite ambient records?

Just like metal! So that's a favourite of yours as well I gather?

I'm not so sure actually. I've found that, under the right circumstances, most people are prone to have those "hey that's actually not bad at all" moments with something a bit off the beaten path.

Either way, I'm not really sure you have good reason to see me as the musical Antichrist. I did quite like that bit of kraut rock you threw my way recently and I've liked various post punk bands you've played as well. I also got along very well with the first The Cure album (didn't listen to their other albums because I quit that thread for other reasons).

I'm more than willing to give things a chance, so maybe drop the attitude? Sorry about that time a while ago where you felt I was being rude and I just doubled up on offending you. You know a lot about the genres you're passionate about. You do not have boring tastes. I'm not being sarcastic, btw. I feel like that has to be made clear.

So is post punk. You gonna disown the genre now?

Rockabilly and early rock n roll is thoroughly part of generic punk dogma.

is this thread only being used for personal attacks now

These aren't attacks, this is an inquisition.

This ain't Spain, this is a bureaucracy. Everyone expects the bureaucratic inquisition because they receive 5 appointment notices leading up to it.

The Batlord 07-31-2018 02:18 PM

Then I guess you just naturally have a limited ability to appreciate music. I feel bad for you, bruh. You should feel bad too.

must be a hell of paranoia in your brain to think a secret taste making meeting is happening somewhere

Scene: At a punk show
Scenario one: Guy asks "What do you guys think of rockabilly?"
Scenario two: Guy asks "What do you guys think of hip hop?"

Which question receives more scoffs?

WWWP 07-31-2018 02:20 PM

it's v punk to like all the right punk things

Just own it tbh

Oh, well punk and hip hop must have identical audiences, then.

Let's not pretend we're not all elistist *******s in some capacity

Frownland 07-31-2018 02:48 PM

Just because I'm better than everyone here and everyone who I've ever met doesn't mean that I'm an elitist.

MicShazam 07-31-2018 02:51 PM

I'm not an elitist either. It's not my fault everyone else doesn't get why my tastes are superior.

Especially Elphenor. **** that guy.

Well then maybe you can reverse it so that your entire persona is based around being a pinko. Either way you have a limited scope.

Lucem Ferre 07-31-2018 03:02 PM

People on here think I have **** taste in music. They also think I have ****ty taste in hair.

I have to say, it doesn't bother me much.
