I guess it's why bands such as 65daysofstatic (with their electronic influences) and Sgt (Math Rock tinges) are listened too more frequently by myself.

I just feel that not enough bands are making enough effort in the genre and because Post Rock generally eschews vocals, the need to stand out a little from the crowd is more preferable to me these days.

I agree. Which is way I'm enjoying 65daysofstatic (who I'm listening to for the first time) and my favorite post rock tends to be things like Mice Parade, Mouse on the Keys, and **** Buttons (Tarot Sport at least). Bands that blend post rock with other styles of music are much more memorable and worth listening to, in my opinion. Not to say I don't still love me some Mogwai and Tortoise.

Talk Talk will always be the best post-rock group. :thumb:

Street Horrrrsing is where it's at with **** Buttons. Glad to see you're enjoying 65dos, they're great. Fall of Math is my personal favorite from them but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority from what I've read on here. All their stuff is solid though.

Lately as far as post-rock goes I've been enjoying Daturah, The End of the Ocean, and Immanu El's new album Moen.

I've really been getting into HiM recently, good, good stuff.
Oh, not that Finnish love metal bullshit, the Chicago based HiM with drummer Doug Scharin (June of 44, Codeine, Rex).

That scared the **** out of me for a second. My sister listens to the other band, she made me listen to a song off some album with a guy who likes like a huge tool with a pink cover about razorblades or something. Looking at the album cover, I was surprised... it destroyed my concept of what a bad band is.

And though I said I steer away from post rock, I downloaded a couple things tonight. Daturah was one of them. Also, I like Street Horssing a lot, but it's not really post rock. Tarot Sport definitely is. They're both damn fine albums though. I hope FB sticks around for a while.

Im kinda new to post rock, have listened to a bit of Hammock, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, and Mono. I would like to listen to more, but there is so much other music I also really want to hear, and getting into each new post rock album tends to take me a lot of time that I have to devote to concentrating on the album a few times before it grows on me, which is kinda a turn off. Every band I have gotten into is one of my favorite bands, it just takes a lot of work for me to get into a band.

Word. Fuck Buttons only got better, in my opinion. I could listen to 'Lisbon Maru' over and over and over. Same goes for 'Sweet Love For Planet Earth'. But shit, cat. The whole albums are incredible.

Well yeah I agree, but I realized I sounded like a dumbass saying that because Street Horssing was most definitely a post rock album. I'm with you there though, I think a lot of people liked Street Horssing more but I personally loved the direction they went. I don't think I could really label either of the albums as better, they're both just different and 2 of my favorite albums. I can't imagine ever getting bored with them... they just seem to get better and better the more I listen :)

Anybody into El Ten Eleven? Just a duo combining Bass and Drums with looping their own riffs? I think this is bloody great:

El Ten Eleven is pretty great, especially when you see them play together:
