You have a great taste in post-rock Ethan. On my computer I have post rock and post metal in the same folder because I feel they're both so atmospheric that genre-tags are no boundary; i.e. many post rock bands can be as heavy as many metal bands. So I've added a post-metal list, even if I don't know as much about it.

Anyway, Isis is the best post rock/metal band IMO - unmatched genius and one of my favourite bands ever. They're one of those very rare bands that have changed the way I think about music... you know, you get bands like that which shake your musical foundations. I've found about 5 in my life.

Post-Rock:
Jakob - Excellent NZ post rock, check out Solace (seen them 3 times this year)... definitely my fav post-rock band.
Caspian - Should probably start with You Are the Conductor
Mono - of course!
Sparrows, Swarm and Sing
Red Sparowes
Sickoakes
Russian Circles
Pirate Ship Quintet
Maserati
Yndi Halda
Lanterna - a bit repetitive, but nice and dreamy

but honestly, pr is the new indie rock. scene is oversaturated; hipsters have gotten ahold of it. prepare to watch it crash and burn

i have getting more and more into post rock recently and thought I would suggest some bands apart from the usual suspects that I have been listening to recently.

The sleeve for Faust's s/t says that they are a "legendary German post-rock band." Allmusic informs me that Talk Talk's Laughing Stock is the first post-rock album, or maybe Spiderland. So has post-rock been around since the 70's or the 90's? Or is it a phenomenon of this decade? I think it's one of the most frustrating and absurd genre tags I have to deal with on a regular basis. In any case a lot of the 90's bands tagged as post-rock get a lot of love from me, but a lot of the stuff from the last few years sounds pretty same-y to me. Still good to listen to every once in a while.
