I went to a cafe today and got particularly stoned. After I left to walk to a music store, I put on M83's Beauties Can Die, and I was completely blown away. It was probably partly being stoned, but it was probably one of the more profound musical experiences I've had in a while. It's really so simple, but I find it incredibly moving.

I listened to Efterklang for the first time today too, if they're considered post-rock. It was cool, I like their use of strings. I forget which album it was, but I have another one to go, so I'll probably review them both a bit after I finish that.

I have to say thank you to everyone who's contributed to this thread so far, I've found more great music than I can shake a stick at.

This thread is fantastic.

Ive gotten into quite a bit of post-rock and post-metal over the last year or so. I still need to delve into the genre a lot more though. I got a bit sidetracked with my second delve into thrash metal and a little bit of funk and jazz. I got as far as Mono, Explosions, Pelican, Godspeed, Mogwai and I either knew of or was listening to a lot more post-metal orientated bands like Jesu, 3rd and The Mortal, Isis, Cult of Luna etc so basically this thread is particularly useful.

Ive downloaded the .rar from the first post so will give that a shot. Top marks.

I think theres a lot of recommendations already here really, a lot of whom Ihave meant to check out for far too long now. I prefer more mellow/ambient stuff but I'm open minded. Thanks though, and ill bear that in mind!

Panopticon is a masterpiece, I haven't really given their other stuff a listen though.
