They are a few of the originators of the genre and as such contain elements of Post Rock. They did'nt comply to the genre as it did'nt exist. It was bands thereafter that took elements of these bands. Post Rock is quite secular in it's musical outlook and is hardly progressive but if you love ambient music, then Post Rock is awesome.

are good examples of Post Rock and are easy to find at least on youtube to give you some idea. I equate a lot of Post Rock to ambient film soundtracks. If you don't like them, then you probably won't like the genre.

Heard good words about Mogwai and Godspeed..., never come across any of the others before. I'll start blogsearching them immediately. Cheers pal
