No problem. I will send you my favorite and if you want more than I can send you everything that I have.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 04-14-2008 08:28 PM

thanks dude.

Zombeels 04-15-2008 12:26 PM

Saw these guys live. It was a great experience. A lot of depth and layers in their sound.

Kevorkian Logic 04-19-2008 11:32 AM

I always wanted to see them live. I know this guy who has and he said they like played some completely new songs during concert, I don't know if I believe him though.

sleepy jack 04-19-2008 05:20 PM

So my friend and I were driving to pick up another friend and my friend's girlfriend asks if she can listen to something and we said "Okay one more song" and put on some Godspeed and 20 minutes later we'd pick up said friend and arrived at the movies. And that kids is why Godspeed rules.

bardonodude 07-21-2008 08:32 PM

haha, the only way you could top that is if you played a Sunn )))O song, fricking 40 minute songs haha, not nearly as good as godspeed imo though

Sunn )))O carry about the same tune as my refrigerator.

I mean this in the nicest way possible.

bardonodude 07-21-2008 10:18 PM

haha, I agree with you, I dont understand how they're so popular/have so much hype. Anyone can make long songs with industrial noises and backmasked whispers

Inuzuka Skysword 07-22-2008 12:06 PM

It isn't a matter of technical talent.

Boskov 07-23-2008 12:01 PM

F#A# (infinity) is one of the most emotional (and best, dare I say) albums I've ever heard. That monologue on Dead Flag Blues gets me every time.

Blue 10-14-2008 02:47 PM

I find some of the comments in here rather strange. If you don't like them, don't listen. If you do like them, do. What's wrong with someone else liking them? They're not hurting you, or even affecting you in any way.

I've personally only heard F# A#, and though I did really enjoy it, I wouldn't call it the best post-rock music I've heard like some. I do think it's very cool music though and am very interested in hearing more.

Thrice 10-14-2008 02:53 PM

you should make your sig the lyrics to the eiffel 65 song.

Edit - Wow I don't know why I didn't get that at first. Funny.

I have this album complete "F♯A♯∞"

and it is truly an amazing and unique album.

You cant just put it on and listen, you gotta get setup, and get involved, lay down maybe...

henry 04-18-2009 01:04 PM

or just press play and listen

vacuumnoise 04-19-2009 01:11 AM

not for me

Malicious Wakizashi 04-26-2009 02:11 PM

get stoned maybe

GravitySlips 04-26-2009 06:45 PM

it's great in all the above situations.

Anyone else think "Blaise Bailey Finnegan III" is the best thing they've ever done?

Yep. Beautifully crafted.

dac 05-29-2009 08:58 AM

So is their first album, 'All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amp Drooling' just completely unavailable or what?

zeppy111 05-29-2009 02:11 PM

Recently downloaded "lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven"... Needless to say it was the beginning of a musical affair and a change in opinion on the genre as a whole.

dac 06-15-2009 09:53 PM

Thoughts on getting "We are trapped in the belly of this horrible machine, and the machine is bleeding to death" tattooed on my back? This is something I'm really considering and Radiohead tattoos are too cliche.

The Abominable Homan 06-15-2009 10:47 PM

I've only heard Lift Your Skinny Fists, but I have to agree with some other posters that they seem dreadfully boring.

I'm willing t give them another chance I suppose, but if that truly is the best they have to offer, I'm not very hopeful.

Lift Your Skinny Fists is great, but their best tracks are "Blaise Bailey Finnegan III" (from the Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada EP) and "Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls" (from Yanqui U.X.O.) Slow Riot is still the best place to start with them, though.

you also disliked the monks, so your opinion is worthless.

And what about the opinions of the several other people who said the same thing? Surely at least one of them likes The Monks.

That would be in my top 5 for best thing ever if you did so.
Do it before I'm old enough to.

Alfred 06-16-2009 08:40 PM

I still haven't heard this band. I remember not being able to find "lift your skinny fists" anywhere.

They'd still be wrong.

I'm convinced that the narrator from The Dead Flag Blues is the bad guy from Iron Man.

This more than anything else anyone has said to me makes me actually want to see that movie.

crazymenrunningback 06-17-2009 09:00 PM

I enjoy listen to them ever so often but its hard for me to enjoy a song thats more than 9 minutes :(. For me to really enjoy a song I need to the song really well and its really hard for me to if the songs are like 15 minutes. Ill listen them ever so often to see if i do start liking them.

FaSho 06-17-2009 09:39 PM

I don't mind most of their songs being lengthy, but I've yet to make it through all of "Providence". Half an hour is too long for a song.

iTunes tells me I've listened to it 28 times. 14 hours listening to one song... wow

If you find that album boring then don't bother trying any of their others.

Still, I think F#A# is better. Skinny Fists is great but I always thought they released it mainly to show Mogwai what was up.

Greydon 06-19-2009 01:34 PM

Lovely, lovely band.

I've only recently just discovered them.

dac 06-19-2009 07:27 PM

I was wearing a shirt that said "Godspeed You! Black Emperor" and someone commanded me to turn around, so I did, and they were disappointed because they thought a picture of Obama would be on the back. Lol racism lol.

Just get the whole monologue all over you body...Short of that I like "I said 'kiss me you're beautiful, these are truly the last days'" better.
