Putting together a live lp from their current tour and then recording a NEW album. Sweet.

Anyone else listened to this? Live recordings from the recent tour along with demos for the new album. I quite like it myself.

Also, you may have seen my post in the GY!BE thread about the voice in Static being that of a woman that had been slowed down.

Well it turns out the same technique was used in Soundtracks For The Blind on The Beautiful Days and Minus Something. If you speed them up about 17% you can hear what sounds a lot like Jarboe saying the words.

I'm on the third track of the first disc and it's a pretty dense album. I think I'll save the second album for another time, when the first song is 22 minutes, the second is 8 minutes, and the 3rd is 9, my ADD starts to kick in, plus my new music folder is growing unruly. Overall though I think it's a great album and really makes me want to see them live.

I've been meaning to get into Swans for a long time. They've been on my waiting list for like a year. So uh... anyone have uploads?

I love this song too. How I Loved You is the best AoL album in my opinion. I loved the split with Akron/Family too. From my experience not many Swans fans give AoL a fair crack of the whip... which is a massive shame as some of their stuff stands shoulder to shoulder with the likes of White Light from the Mouth of Infinity etc.

actually i felt the new Swans album was really nothing more than a noisier AoL album....which in my opinion was absolute heaven

did anybody actually pay for "We Rose From Your Bed With the Sun in Our Head"? and if so how much did you pay?

i think the new songs are wonderful and i love that 30 minute intro....look forward to the new album....and i think a collaboration between Swans and Low would be heaven on earth

...The good kind.

But seriously, I listen to basically everything that isn't:

1) Gross top-40 pop-rap that doesn't deserved to be called hip-hop,
2) generic modern rock in the vein of Nickleback,
3) anything that starts with "emo" or ends with "core".

Nasty Nas, Guns 'N Roses and associated acts, Miles Davis, Muse, Bill Frisell, Buckethead, Mendelssohn, Messhugah, Hendrix, Skream, ... all good ****. I felt the need to give examples because most people who say they listen to all types of stuff actually listen to nothing and don't know what to say when people ask.

That being said, I would say... either hit me with either their most essential album (the one where I can decide weather to further explore them or not, if there is an album like that) or their most bizarre and abstract one (I love new sounds.)
