no that would be more like Whitehouse and Sutcliffe Jungend or even Genocide Organ.....there is quite a bit of structure and thought behind Throbbing Gristle's music....but you have to have a taste for it....some do and some don't....i honestly don't think there are many people who are like "they're ok"....it seems to me its either you like it or you think it's garbage

All recorded music is "just electrical sounds". I don't see how that's a bad thing.

I'm talking about random bleeping. Somewhat like computer sounds. You know very well what I meant.

I know what you meant but I was making a point of preconceptions. Why should describing something as sounding like "electrical sounds" be a reason to dismiss it as bad?

At any rate, none of the Throbbing Gristle I've ever heard sounds like random computer bleeping.

That's your opinion I guess. I just don't like them. Having a distorted voice and using computer sounds doesn't really appeal to me (especially since so much current mainstream music uses it today). Maybe I'm just being obtuse, but I tend to have an open mind to music and this is just... out of my range.

Most of the Throbbing Gristle I'm familiar with has non-distorted vocals and a decent amount doesn't feature "computer sounds". So maybe you just need to hear more of their music?

I guess so. List some songs and we'll see.

Whether you like it or not, it's pretty hard to deny this isn't "a distorted voice and computer sounds":

Throbbing Gristle's music is in no way completely "random" or "structureless" as there is almost always a constant beat amongst the spoken word lyrics and the improvised noise even when it comes to their most minimalistic compositions. I do realize that they spent most of their time acutally building equipment and messing about occasionally recording a unique sound or two as they've stated in interviews. I thought at first I wouldn't geniunly enjoy any of their albums because of their challenging nature, but I had gotten past it and found some very catchy and intruiqing songs on "20 Jazz Funk Greats" and "d.o.a. the third and final report".

Hamburger Lady is by far the best throbbing gristle track, so eerie and creepy. Way ahead of it's time! The Third and Final Report is their best album.

Does anyone own 'the third mind movements'? I would love the hear that!
