I wouldn't have a problem with that argument. USA probably isn't as avant-garde as 'Trout Mask Replica'. But I would still certainly classify USA as an avant-garde album none the less.

On a side note...

Looking through my library today I found the Residents 'The Third Reich n' Roll'. I forgot I had that album. I really liked that album and I haven't really checked out their other stuff even though I've been meaning to.

You could try looking into their debut album if you really Third Reich 'n' Roll... since they are both apart of their early work. God in Three Persons is pretty good, too, but that's a more later album (released in 1988... I think).

I heard Not Available is decent. Some consider it their magnum opus.

You really can't go wrong with the first 8 albums:
Meet The Residents, Third Reich 'N Roll, Fingerprince, Duck Stab/Buster & Glen, Not Available, Eskimo, The Commercial Album, and Mark Of The Mole are all worthwhile, but if you just want the bare essentials, get Not Available, Third Reich, and Duck Stab

Tool sucks. Also, I am so sick of hearing about Mike Patton bands on here. None of that is real experimental music.

Your opinion, Tool's godly in my eyes. And if you're sick of it, too bad, It's music I like. Mike Patton deserves the credit he gets, so shove it up your ass. By the way, anyone who says what he does isn't experimental is just jealous of his unique vocal range or what he's accomplished.

Honestly, Bungle is the only thing that you had on your list that fit the category(and mostly just Disco Volante). Besides, as brilliant as Patton is he's MASSIVELY overaccredited.

Salutations. I just want to say that fans of all types of avant garde music (including experimental rock, electronic, jazz, and electroacoustics) will enjoy the Epileptic Gibbon podcast Music Show.. They play a lot of good music, and only have interviews occasionally..

Patton has definitely done more experimental things than Fantomas or Mr. Bungle, check his guest spots on Naked City live albums, Hemopheliac, Moonchild Trio, or Adult Themes for a Voice for why people say he is experimental.
I do love the guy but I do agree upon his overaccreditation.
