Looking for instrumental music
Hello all,
I'm trying to find some new music, and I really need some suggestions. Basically, im trying to find instrumental bands/music, but I want it to have a creepy/eerie sound to it. Maybe something similar to Mastodon or Circa Survive but without lyrics? I like GY!BE, but it is a little too sparse for my taste... JBL |

Your welcome. Also, if you're looking for some instrumental music, check out the ambient / post rock genre. I'm sure you'll find something there. |
Hey guys, so I was just wondering. I'm looking for some, what I guess is Experimental/Avant Garde music that is subdued, grimey (in the terms of the actual meaning of the word and not in the way Dubstep fans usually use it), kind of broken in a way, with voices that are actually somewhat unique. Here is a list of some things I think describe what I'm looking for somewhat:
-Lowside Of The Road and What's He Building In There by Tom Waits -Asleep On The Subway by Sxip Shirey -Blues For Uncle Gibb by Broken Social Scene -I Don't Rap In Bumper Stickers by Sole -Intro, Lunation, and Loop by DJ Krush (all off of Strictly Turntablized) Can anyone tell me some artists to look into? All the best, Graeme |

Anyway, here are some thoughts, let me know if they're in the right direction: Johnny Dowd Nick Cave Pram |

It's DoseOne and Jel, and it's a guy with one of the most unique voices I've heard rhyming in absurd time signatures over a beat made by a truly great producer in his friend Jel. Themselves - It's Them |
Oh man, everything about Sonic New York just makes me want to go to New York even more than ever.
And all of that is pretty sweet! Johnny Dowd and Pram sound fantastic. That Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds stuff is, by every meaning of the word, interesting as well. The only thing that I think when I listen to that though is, even though I do like it, it seems like music I just would never listen to voluntarily. The instrumentals in that Pram song though, definitely hit the nail on the head, that's totally in the boat of what I'm looking for. |
Ooooooo, yep. Haha I've been digging doseone for years now. Hemispheres is just one bad trip, but in a good way. An intriguing way. In fact from what I remember, Sole, himself, is an ex-Anticon artist.

It gives 'Trout Mask Replica' a run for the best avant-garde album of the 60's. It's extremely dated, even by psychedelic standards. But it's a crazy album and pushes boundaries to this day. |

Although, I'm pretty sure you can make a valid argument over it being one of the best psych albums of the 60s. |
