One of the local hardcore punk bands in my area does a fantastically energetic version of this song. It's ace :thumb:

I've heard so many versions of this piece. My favorite is done on steel-string acoustic, tuned to DADGAD.

Its a very beutiful peice. I play Canon Rock By JerryC on the guitar. If you are into Rock and Classical you should Play Canon Rock.

is it really beautiful or is it just that we don't realize we hear it everywhere?

Nice link, "Mr. Dave"!

"Canon in D" has that "classical music for us just plain folks" appeal, I guess.

I get an "oh, God...not again" feeling whenever I hear it.

I can NEVER tire of this music!

For the most beautiful piece of classical music:
Try the opening movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony 6.

I am also one who gets an "oh, God...not again" feeling whenever I hear it. I just don't get its appeal. For me, the Canon is an exercise in monotony. Compositionally, it is utterly un-impressive compared to thousands of other works.
