Greatpiece for sure, i prefer Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, always been my favourite. ;)

It is beautiful, and I'm grateful for this thread. Obviously I've heard it a million times, but could never put a name to it until I gave it a Google just now. One of my favourite Classical pieces.

:bowdown::bowdown: PACHELBEL "Canon in D major"
|
If it's not the most beautiful, it is definitely one of the most popular.
|
I definitely love Canon, one of the best one hit wonders in history. Chopin has some really beautiful pieces though. Don't forget Debussy's Claire de Lune or Mozart's Fantasy in D minor. Those could definitely compete with Canon.

i think its overplayed
but it is very beautiful as long as its played right |
I have really grown to hate Canon in D. It's the most overplayed piece ever. It's an elementary recital piece that is designed for children, and follows a very simple chord progression. Yes, some simple and minimalist music can be awesome, but I put Canon in D and the same category of lullabies and children's music. The chord progression has been used in a million pop songs too.

I think its a beautiful piece but I've heard it so many times now that I just can't stand listening to it anymore.. |
Played this in Orchestra, and I agree that it's way too overplayed, but it is quite a beautiful song...not the most beautiful, but it gets the job done.
|
It's my favourite classical piece. That and Morning Mood. I creates very beautiful images in my head :o:
