I assume you're referring to Pachelbel's Canon. :) Yes it is beautiful. It "radiates" a sense of serenity, even at the fastest passage, and the way it harmonizes even with different (and repeating) melodies is just wonderful. It was said that J.S. Bach was much inspired by Pechelbel, too.

I just won't use "most" and "perfect" in the same sentence though. lol
The reason is simple. My life has been beautiful, but perhaps not "most", and surely not "perfect". For that reason, I enjoy more the music that resonates with some of the struggles and anguish, with nice resolutions, if possible. :)

Another composer's music you may enjoy. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. We have a saying about him: "the problem with Mendelssohn's music is that he has no problem". His life had been smooth-sailing and so it reflects in his music. Check out his Violin Concerto and the Italian Symphony.

Regards.

Sometimes hyperbole is the best means to start debate or conversation...I may be guilty of this, thanks for your feedback!

Ha, that's exactly my opinion. I consider it the "platonic" melody, which is why, I suspect, so many pop songs incorporate it...explicitly or subtly.

I'm so glad there's a thread on this.
I came into the Classical sub-forum expecting a "Your favourite piece" thread and i was going to post this.
It really is beautiful.

"Spiegel im Spiegel" is superb too.

If you're looking for a great piano piece, few things will beat this:

It's a beautiful piece however, it can't beat the 9th.

i agree it's the most beautiful piece of music. i love hearing it at weddings. makes me tear up a bit and i get flushed with a sense of calmness.

strange how it just fits so many moods so well. I would agree with a previous poster who suggested that's why it's such a popular progression blue print in pop music.

As overplayed as this song is, it still remains to be one of my favorite classical pieces ever.

So, yes, it is beautiful.
