I'll take 20th century classical over free jazz tbh.

I'd expect nothing less from an ICP fanboy.

lol where did you even find this one?

My parents are Russian piano nerds and I played sonatinas by Mozart, Clementi and Cimarosa as a little kid, but never heard of this guy.

I had some friends in college who were music majors and also ****ing nerds (yeah, I repeat myself). But I chose him because I wanted a classical composer that started with 'C' so I could mirror (M)iles and (C)oltrane. First one that came to mind.

Edit: ****. I double-posted again.

How bout this for a C composer?

He's famous for syrupy orchestral Americana like Billie The Kid and Appalachian Spring, but this is the real $hit.

A genre that has a built in audience in addition to "genuine" enthusiasts sounds pretty relevant to me.

You're reaching, bruh.

Frownland 08-23-2021 09:24 AM

tfw you're so irrelevant that people regularly pretend to like you for social purposes

The Batlord 08-23-2021 10:02 AM

But don't actually listen so not very relevant.

Frownland 08-23-2021 10:05 AM

Nothing's wholly relevant anymore you dumb bitch.

The Batlord 08-23-2021 10:09 AM

By your standards relevancy is pretty hard to lose.

More like it's so impossible to gain your ideal of universal relevancy in art that relevancy to a sizeable audience counts.

My key contention here is using the audience as evidence against there being an audience for the genre on the assumption that they're not trve enough. Even if it were true, there wouldn't be so many fake emcees in classical music if there wasn't a relevant element to cater to.
