Nope, I found it to be pretty bland, and it seemed a lot like REM's last effort before they folded in that they just played it safe, there wasn't anything really adventurous or out the norm apart from the track with the female rapper.

I think it was just a case of Bruce releasing an album for the sake of it, there wasn't much worth listening to a second time.
I do like Bruce by the way, actually I'll go out on a limb and say I prefer him to Bob Dylan.

Around here they'll kill ya for a statement like that. I like the cut of your job, Manky.

I think WB was him trying to write his own Pete Seeger album. You know life if Live in Dublin were actually his material. It wasn't my favorite album, but I liked "Death to my Hometown" and there were a few others on there I enjoyed. I didn't play it too many times.

Magic was better.

So...new album coming out? I haven't even gotten through the 80s yet while working through his discography, but I assume a few people are excited. Or at the very least, interested to see how it has turned out.

the last one was the X'mas album

the previous one was Throughout This Life or something, it was merely "passable" - i didn't listen to it much, wasn't very captivating, and the three albums before that were better

I don't think it would be shocking if this next one was passable as well, but I guess we will see. I haven't heard any of this recent "greats" so I don't even know what the best possible outcome is.

Also, what are some opinions on 80s Bob albums? I've just finished listening to everything up to Infidels and...well...very odd sound on some of those songs. At least compared to his rough and tumble days. Which ones do people like most?

seems to be everybody thinks Oh Mercy!'s the best

well, he wouldn't devote one-half of Chronicles Vol. 1 to its making if it weren't any good

i haven't heard all of them, still don't have Knocked Out Loaded or Down in the Groove

i think Shot of Love is one of his best, and Infidels is not bad, if a bit patchy
